🔴 #HAPPENINGNOW | Annual High-Level National Stakeholders Advocacy Meeting on Prevention and Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and #WASH integration.
Convened by the @RwandaNGOForum in collaboration with @RwandaHealth, @RBCRwanda, @RwandaLocalGov, and with support from @TheENDFund, this high-level platform brings together government ministries, district authorities, development partners, UN agencies, embassies, the private sector, CSOs, academia, media, and community health workers.
Why it matters:
✅ Rwanda's Interruption of Transmission (#IoT) plan aims to reduce schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminthiasis prevalence below 2% in Bugesera and Ruhango by 2027.
✅The National #NTD Strategic Plan 2026-2030 targets domestic financing for at least 70% of the national #NTD program budget by 2030, yet financing remains largely donor-dependent.

Key Strategies to Accelerate NTD Elimination in Rwanda Disseminated
The Annual High-Level National Stakeholders Advocacy Meeting on Prevention and Control of #NTDs and #WASH Integration provided an excellent opportunity for the dissemination of two essential frameworks that will guide #NTD interventions over the coming years:
1⃣NTDs National Strategic Plan 2026 - 2030: https://t.co/olFxsugI8b
2⃣WASH-NTD Coordination Toolkit: https://t.co/MzIkebfHjZ
The dissemination ceremony was presided over by Dr. Brian Chirombo (@BrianChirombo), @WHORwanda Country Representative, Dr. Albert TUYISHIME (@TuyishimeAlbert), Head of Diseases Prevention and Control Department (HDPC), representing @RwandaHealth and @RBCRwanda, alongside @RwandaLocalGov Permanent Secretary Bob Gakire (@BGakire).
Meaningful progress in public health requires a deeply collaborative approach, so it was highly encouraging to see active participation from all representative categories. Attendees included members of public institutions, districts, development partners, embassies, civil society organizations, the private sector, media, and representatives of community health workers (#CHWs).
Integrating water, sanitation, and hygiene (#WASH) into #NTD prevention and control efforts is a practical necessity for long-term success.

Key priorities include:
1️⃣Accelerating disease-specific interventions and elimination efforts.
2️⃣Strengthening cross-cutting and integrated approaches.
3️⃣Enhancing health systems, capacity, and country ownership.
4️⃣Ensuring sustainable financing and partnerships, including increased domestic financing.
Together, we can build a Rwanda free from Neglected Tropical Diseases. #UniteActEliminate #EndTheNeglect #RoadToElimination #BeatNTDs #NTDs #WASH @TheENDFund@GlobalFund@Rwanda_Edu@RwandaInfra@Imbuto@RwandaEast@RwandaSouth@CityofKigali@unicefrw@Rwanda_Child@ImroRwanda@InterfaithRda@HDIRwanda@Sfrwanda1@wasac_rwanda@WaterRwanda@cooperation_lu@UNDP_Rwanda@ughe_org@Uni_Rwanda@ReseauP29968@GermanyinRwanda@PSF_RWA@WateraidRwanda
