"Being open to the possibility that LLMs are conscious is the same as being open to the possibility that Microsoft Word is conscious...Contemplating that scenario is not a good use of your time."

One of the craziest videos of the aurora I have ever captured. Five minutes of aurora ramping up every second until a giant spiral starts traveling right over my head, disappearing behind my apartment.
Filmed in January 2026, air temp -20 F. North Pole, Alaska
An extremely good article on the horrific bombing of the primary school in Minab that puts it in the context of both the wider history and the recent technological acceleration of the error-prone process of military “targeting”.
This footage from inside the eye of Category 5 Hurricane Melissa might be the most jaw-dropping video ever captured of a hurricane’s eye, showcasing the infamous “stadium effect."

Two years ago, 10 minutes before my code access was cut off to on my last day working at Discord, I added an easter egg into the app.
I had to get another engineer to promote it to stable since my access cut off mid-merge.
Two years later, I'm surprised it's still there haha. Anywhere the "X" logo appears in the app, if you press shift, it sneakily switches back to the twitter branding.
Everyone on Reddit was mad at first about the logo change. There were two posts, one complaining about the logo change, and the other had found the easter egg and was super excited about it.
Me and @svishnevskiy were just laughing about it the whole time.

When supercell thunderstorms go 'upscale', they often form linear, curved segments called 'bow echoes'. Fairly uninteresting to tornado chasers, but damaging and sometimes an absolutely incredible sight to behold.

We're going to be moving forward under the expectation that future Pixel devices may not meet the requirements to run GrapheneOS (https://t.co/Y3zr3l4gbw) and may not support using another OS. We've been in talks with a couple OEMs about making devices and what it would cost.

Functional programming has already achieved total cultural victory. Now all that remains is to eliminate whatever procedural constructs remain, and human intensionality can finally be achieved.
NEW: Elon Musk’s massive xAI data center is poisoning Memphis.
It's burning enough gas to power a small city, with no permits and no pollution controls.
Residents tell us they can’t breathe and they’re getting sicker.
