Dear 🇬🇧,
Here’s your weekly reminder that 10 years ago, your NHS was ranked the #1 healthcare system on Earth. You don’t need a new system. You need a new govt that won’t destroy your public NHS to feed a private system. Your family isn’t safe in #ToryBritain.

The government and the Bank of England are again calling today for wage restraint to beat inflation - as if the whole cost of beating inflation must fall on wage-earning households and not the companies and banks that are causing it or the wealthy who are gaining. A thread....
Today it has been reported that during our first round of action in England mortality rate was 11.1% above the 5 year average.
What they haven’t reported was that in Wales, where no strike action took place, mortality rate was 14% above the 5 year average. 1/3
While France is banning short-haul flights, the UK government is now promoting them, under the slogan 'Grow the Economy'
More like 'Kill the Living World'.
Policies like this, in times like these, will be recorded in the history books as ecocide.
I wonder if the penny will drop. We have fucked the planet. The one fucking planet. The stupidity of the people who run this shit show cannot see it and neither can the masses. Biblical. Awesome. There are no words to describe what we’ve unleashed. Now it’s making us face it.
Cambridge Zero Director @emilyshuckburgh and 676 other academics across the UK ask @RishiSunak to end all new oil and gas development.

The science is clear: We must have the guts to take on the fossil fuel industry or else the planet we will be leaving our kids and future generations will be increasingly uninhabitable. Now is the time for action.
The #IPCC is spot on - the fossil fuel era is over. Govt must heed this final warning and cancel Cumbria coal mine, drop #Rosebank oil field, and unblock onshore wind & solar *now*. The evidence is clear, the solutions are here - now let’s see the action

It is getting even more impossible to ignore the climate crisis. The fact that people in power still somehow live in denial, and actively move in the wrong direction, will eventually be seen for and understood as the unprecedented betrayal it is. It is just a matter of time.
What’s sad about David Attenborough is that the BBCs obsession with ‘not being political’ has stopped him telling the public how oil companies are blocking action on climate change. The public need to know this! #WildIsles https://t.co/z6UG5whpAi
It's the oldest trick in the book: When poverty is on the rise and the rich are getting richer, the powerful play divide and rule.
That's what the Tories' latest attack on refugees is all about.
I will vote against their cruel Anti-Refugee Bill.
Sometimes I get these moments where I just want to cry. Most people are oblivious to what is happening. It’s a threat to their lives and mine. My safety too. Its personal as much as anything else. It’s like being a passenger in a car driven by a drunk driver - and no one cares.
@BMA_JuniorDocs In New Zealand the BMA equivalent (RDA) are very strong and consistently have their (fair and equitable) demands met, with similar rates as these! Pleased the BMA is taking this step towards pay restoration
