@StephaniaLBell Good luck with your next chapter. I have high regard for your work. Of all the people to move on from, you would have been just about last on my list.
@BasedMikeLee The more you lie about how serious this illegal voting issue is, the more egregious it is that you don't insist on negotiating a version that can pass. If it's really a five alarm fire, why do you do nothing to actually build the votes for it in the Senate.
@BasedMikeLee I guess now you'll be re-writing the SAVE Act to federalize all the DMVs too, since your bill would not have prevented this administrative error.
@BasedMikeLee You used to care about federal overreach. Wait til AOC wins the White House and your short sightedness has put her in charge of federal elections. What about the constitutional requirement that states administer elections? You're such a hypocrite.
@BasedMikeLee Spoken like a real extremist. How do you expect to legislate effectively when you say things like this? Half the body is against this bill.
@RuthAnn_5439@EricLDaugh This seems to me to be the wrong question. This bill was developed by Rs only. Sure it could get horse traded, but election process bills that help 1 party are notoriously difficult to get thru the Senate. Rs should be negotiating with the minority if they want to get it done.
@RepLuna What about drafting this highly political bill with Democrats, since you will need some Democratic support to pass it? Surely if it's that important as you say, you would right?
@BasedMikeLee I thought you were going to point out what a debt bomb it is, and talk about how Republican Washington has been fiscally irresponsible at a historically unprecedented clip
@RepLuna Congresswoman, language in the text of a bill can be removed by the Senate, or the entire bill with your language in it could be fiibustered. I agree that it would be better from your perspective to have it in the text of the bill, but the rest of this is inaccurate.
@NickAPappas Amending federal election law is tough to get thru Congress. Folks got together after the 2000 election and made some changes. The parties compromised on the Help America Vote Act much of which had to do with disabled voters. These changes required significant bipartisan buy in
@BasedMikeLee This is of course what it has always felt like to be in the Senate majority. Your impatience and frustration should connect you to your opposition and over time make it easier to find common ground
@Acyn Odd strategy. Eliminate the filibuster for a partisan election process bill, because control.of the Senate is precarious. But you could lose the Senate after that and then get run over. I can see why they don't make this guy Leader.
