@EdLdshpMSUM I will capitalize on what I am good at and find what others strengths are. It will be good for me as I look for a position to know that a leader won’t be good at everything they do. Good leaders do what they are good at and find good people to help them along the way. #ED634
@EdLdshpMSUM I think an important takeaway was that we can’t be a leader exactly like those we admire. It would be like dressing up in costume. At some point we would be out of character. Leading with ones strengths gives us permission to lead in a our own way. #ED634
@CoachMeagher @EdLdshpMSUM Sometimes I wish a system could consider building teams or departments this way. I think of an English department that had teachers with all different strengths; kids could get so much from it. #ED634
@tbry30@EdLdshpMSUM I like the word complacent here.
I think most of us work hard at the things we struggle with. Imagine what we could do with some of that energy focused on our strengths — unstoppable! #ED634
@EdLdshpMSUM I like this idea. I worry sometimes because I can tend to focus on those weaknesses and at times talk myself out of opportunities because I worry a role may require a skill I don’t possess. #ED634
@EdLdshpMSUM I think Rath & Conchie would argue that we focus on developing strengths and build good teams. However, some skills may be necessary to develop to be effective. I doubt anyone on my team wants to organize my notes or keep my desk clean. I’ll keep working on it. #ED634
@EdLdshpMSUM This makes sense! I took Yale’s class through Coursera on the science of well-being. The science links using ones strengths directly to job satisfaction more than money and work/life balance. #ED634
@KatelynVipond@EdLdshpMSUM This screams for us to be teaching kids that they have strengths. Imagine the confidence kids would have when they struggle in an area knowing that they are skilled in another. #ED634
@EdLdshpMSUM Those strengths are what make us leaders. They are how we excel and science tells us that when we use our skills and strengths in our work place, it makes us happy. #ED634
Anyone else feel like we are in a new educational era? I’m not sure I can go back to the teacher I was before. I have more doubts about my educational practices then ever. What’s best for me may not be what’s best for kids.
How do we restart our school year next fall with a renewed dedication for staff as well as students. We had so much apathy and hardship this year and extended grace to students as a way to care for them. Now we need more from them. How do we do it?
