In honour of Labor Day, teach your children to negotiate. Tell them your plan for dinner tonight - something gross.

Then tell them that if they think they can change your mind, they could work together and give it a try. “Let’s say I’m the boss but do the workers get a say?”

Step three: Clarify terms and options. You justify why the liver & onions need to be eaten, they justify why something else needs to be on the table, too.

Step four: Bargaining & problem solving. What’s the demand? What’s the counter-offer? Encourage democratic decision making.
