I agree with this, directionally.

But.

There are states where I’d need more in terms of house, view, etc. What I mean is there are more places I’d happily live in a modest house in a random zip code in New Hampshire or Hawaii than Louisiana or Oklahoma.

It’s also a little unfair to talk this way. It wasn’t like people were saying “if I have to live in Nevada, I’m leaving the country.” The choice was among American states and it was a harmless conversation starter. Making it sound like it wasn’t is a little unfair to the people who answered honestly.

Last, I’m never renouncing my citizenship or abandoning my love of this country. But because I’m honest, if you offered me a fantastic pad in London or chalet in Switzerland I’d take it over a crappy one bedroom apartment in a random crappy exurb of Tulsa. That doesn’t mean I love America less. It means I’m a normal person who can make reasonable judgments about trade offs.

I'm watching a new show on Netflix about the bombing of Pan Am 103. It didn't take long to realize it's basically a multi-episode effort to propagandize Americans into empathizing with Israel and support our interventionist policy in the Middle East, and associate Palestine and Arabs with terrorism.
