So happy @ChiPublicHealth so quickly rolled out vaccine clinics for littles! My little superhero is one shot down, one to go (and a big fan of @chicagosmayor apparently)!
#parenting books did not prepare me for the fact that one day I would learn what a near-exclusive diet of oranges would do to a human digestive tract 😬
School shootings are not fucking acts of nature, like hurricanes and tornadoes. They're man-made acts of inaction, of cowardice, of corruption by all lawmakers who refuse to pass laws PROVEN BY DATA to stop preventable, senseless shootings like in Uvalde.

@raptorlindsay We’re all in this situation. Buy new jeans. Or maybe we’ll all get lucky and 24/7 leggings will become socially acceptable in our personal and professional lives.

This is also why there are so few minority, first gen, and low income faculty. Many people (myself included) couldn’t afford the job insecurity that came with the contract positions and post docs necessary to become “competitive” TT job candidates.

When the polio vaccine dropped in 1955 people lined up to get it, & we were 2 years away from artificial satellites. Now in 2021 we carry external world-brains in our pockets & there’s robots on Mars and idiots think the COVID vaccine is full of wizard poison.
Making it illegal to bring food and water to people standing in long lines that are only long because of policies you created to specifically and intentionally limit the electoral power of Black people is honestly more egregious and abhorrent than I have the words for.
@shazrasul@UChicago FYI the app sent me the notification a solid 30 min before the email came through. And the email itself is kind of vague (“new scheduling ticket available”) compared to the app (“schedule your covid vaccine now!”)
