@skcmonastery@Protestia I have a brother who will soon be an ELCA pastor and it’s the same story with him. He chose the ELCA because they interpret the bible the way he liked best. It makes it difficult to have a serious conversation concerning the bible.
Reformation Positives: the flood of Lutheran Chorales; the Catechisms; the Postilla (Church and House); the musicians (Praetorius, Schütz, Bach etc.); Luther’s Bible translation; frequent communion restored; absolution treasured; education centered in the Word;
Steadfast resistance to GMOs creates heavy collateral damage, impeding the development of public & philanthropic outcomes; such crops help the poor. This detrimental action, the indiscriminate rejection of GMOs takes away precious energies from productive env & social battles.
An excellent commentary "Counterproductive consequences of ‘anti-GMO’ activism", author concludes that anti-GMO activists fighting corporations & capitalism fail to hit the supposed target, but benefit industry & thus exploited by the very capitalistic front they are combating!

Pesticide use now is 95% lower than the rate in the 1950s! Av.application rates in 1950s were 1,200, 1,700, & 2,400 grams a i/hectare for fungicides, insecticides, herbicides. By the 2000s the average use reduced to 100, 40, & 75 g/ha. Via @jeffdonald
