The European Unionβs β¬890 million (~$1 billion) fine on Google today is the latest example of Brussels using regulation as a blunt instrument against American innovation.
According to Politico, a recent EU fine on Google of β¬4.1 billion (~ $5 billion) alone represented 2% of the EUβs annual budget, higher than the contribution of 2/3rds of the EUβs member states. The current fine is in addition. Enough is enough!
While we support fair competition, this current penalty under the Digital Markets Act risks chilling the very dynamism that drives technological progress and benefits users everywhere.
The United States remains committed to open markets, rule of law, and genuine competition. We urge our European partners to work collaboratively with us on standards that foster innovation rather than protect legacy players or punish market leaders simply for being effective.
American tech leadership strengthens the transatlantic alliance β letβs keep it that way.

News: Nearly 200 Silicon Valley companies, including Proton and Y-Combinator, are urging the Trump administration not to cut off access to Chinese open-weight AI models or risk crippling the next generation of U.S. startups. https://t.co/Cj30cyeonb
President Trump has said since his election that he supports Little Tech. Iβm glad that our small innovators now have a voice in Washington to compete with the Big Business lobby at the Chamber and NetChoice.
#AI is remaking the tech industry. That's the opportunity, and the risk. It can be the greatest engine of dynamism, innovation, and growth in a generation... or it can be captured by long-time incumbents and used to entrench them further.
LTA's members aren't asking for favors, just free markets, open systems, and real consumer choice - so they can build, grow, and compete in the AI-era.

We believe free markets drive innovation. That's why, on day one, we're calling on Congress to advance sound, pro-competition reforms: #AICOA, #OAMA, ACCESS & AMERICA.
