@MikeBenchCapon I think it's nice that we regularly have a day when a celebrity feels like they have something important and powerful to say to the world but turns out to be painfully shallow and cringe — it's the perfect way to honour the memory of John Lennon
@MikeBenchCapon@js_thrill John Mayberry used to say: When people say "*In theory*..." or "*In principle* you could write down an arbitrarily large number" — I want to know, *what* theory? *What* principle? Unless you have a particular principle in mind you're just assuming what you're meant to be arguing
@MikeBenchCapon@js_thrill I'd say it's at least consistent to believe in, say, a googolplex without being committed to the existence of all the numbers below it
@MikeBenchCapon@petemandik There are some finitists who disallow all integers between 3 and 98 inclusive, but these Skip-a-Fewists tend to be disqualified from playing hide and seek
@SaraLUckelman The explanation in forallx isn't particularly clear, it took me a lot of head-scratching to figure out how to translate the rules for modal logic into something I could explain to a student
@baseballot Also: clearly indicate how much of the vote has been counted and how much remains
Don't just say "Candidate A leads by 57% to 43%" — that's a misleading artifact of the order in which votes are counted
Show the full situation as the count progresses:

It was so much fun chatting with @veritasium about the principle of least action! And what a great video Derek and his team made. Hope you enjoy it! https://t.co/WkMIrEbZ9t
@h_blaubear I take a photo of the page which I can then have open on the screen. I find it easier to look back and forth between two windows on the screen than down at a book. Also means I can later find the original text when I need to without having to find and flip through the book
@Dorianlynskey "Only 120 people watched Robert Jenrick give his Tory Conference speech, but every one of them went on to found their own political party"
