Nice! Would love to see Sarasota County on this list. Keep a look out for bad bills like House Bill 1461 (2026) — “Advanced Nuclear Reactors”. It passed the Florida House (108-0) but died in the Senate Rules Committee. It would facilitate the rise of nuclear powered data centers.

It a failed power plant that was set to close operations early 2026 after:

- $1.6 BILLION in federal loans
- $535 MILLION grant
- $600 MILLION tax credit
- MASSIVE investor write-offs

But that shutdown has been rejected and it was decided the plant must keep operating. Which means taxpayers will pay roughly $105 million in extra costs passed on to California ratepayers for overpriced power compared to cheaper modern alternatives

The California Public Utilities Commission unanimously rejected the shutdown agreement despite the plant being so inefficient it only operates at about 20% of expected electricity generation

And when people were injured?

No compensation through the CICP for the overwhelming majority of injured people.
