@nic_carter I kind of agree with this, but I’ll also point out that your not likely to find a few billion missing from tether unless there is > 90% run on it. It’s not a bank with flimsy reserves. My theory is the even if it did have a hole at one point it would be filled by the $ interest

@thepowerfulHRV You are forgetting that ETH isn’t anyone’s liability. It’s actually ok if it doesn’t match the dollar’s nominal interest rate. If you look at its performance lately vs. the dollar it’s actually worse. But bearer assets are fundamentally different.

@MutantCroco Depends on what you are doing. Python is a good first language and it’s also just plain good for anything not performance related. C/asm for low level stuff. Sysadmin skills also good for cybersecurity. Not sure about web/api security.

@guil_lambert @ETHBoston ETH is temporarily good since there is little to no inflation and it pays for itself. This isn’t likely to last forever because txn fees will go down one way or another. Either ETH becomes more efficient or looses market share to a chain that is more efficient.

@HodlMagoo I think they are useful…. But they have some issues. All of the risk of banks + smart contract risk and typically no interest. Not great to hang onto…

@olvelez007 You are too focused on the hash rate. What actually provides security is the costs involved in generating the hash. For example is the cost of generating the same hash rate is cut in half then the bitcoin security is also cut in half. You should redo based on cost of hash.
