BREAKING: Deloitte’s new report projects a lunar economy worth up to $566 billion and highlights @SpaceX as a key player.

The report says:

• Elon Musk has shifted SpaceX’s focus toward building a self-growing city on the Moon
• SpaceX has invested over $15 billion in Starship
• Deloitte calls Starship the highest-capacity cislunar vehicle in development
• Its newest version is designed to carry up to 100 metric tons to orbit
• SpaceX is developing a crewed lunar lander
• SpaceX requested approval for 1 million space-based computing satellites
• Its plans include lunar factories capable of manufacturing and launching satellites directly from the Moon
• Future businesses could include lunar manufacturing, surface energy and space-based AI computing

Deloitte estimates:

• $343B to $566B in cumulative economic value through 2050
• $209B to $282B from core lunar infrastructure
• $134B to $284B from markets enabled by that infrastructure
• An additional $541B in potential benefits from innovation, science and human inspiration
• Transportation alone could be worth up to $205.7B
• Resources and materials could reach $114.5B
• In-space production could reach $105.9B
• More than 400 lunar missions are planned over the next two decades.

BREAKING: SpaceX wins a new U.S. Space Force contract to expand Starshield service aboard military aircraft.

• Worldwide Starshield coverage
• At least 500 Mbps downlink and 100 Mbps uplink
• Service for aircraft already equipped with Starshield Tile and Tile Mini terminals
• Ruggedized terminals developed for aircraft ranging from cargo planes to tactical fighter jets
• One-year base period through July 2027, with an option through July 2028
• Firm-fixed-price task order awarded directly to SpaceX under the Space Force’s PLEO contract

The task order was awarded July 28 and revealed in a new Space Force filing published Aug. 25.

The Space Force concluded that SpaceX is currently the only provider capable of meeting its requirements. The total contract value and number of aircraft covered remain redacted.

Everyone's quoting the $100B. Read the Starbase Louisiana site plan instead:

— on-site power generation plants
— natural gas → liquid methane processing
— deep-water ports + dedicated airport
— 10 pads, 30+ flights/day

It's an energy and logistics facility that launches rockets. The bottleneck to orbit is no longer the rocket. That's the milestone.

Grok 4.6 is a better overall model than Opus 5.

While Claude Opus 5 excels in frontend development it is slow and lazy in real workflows.

Grok 4.6 on the other hand is fast and affordable with strong backend capabilities and reasoning.

Grok 4.7 will need to solve the frontend weaknesses of Grok 4.6, but has potential to beat GPT 5.6 Sol or even Fable 5.

SpaceX has just officially announced Starbase, Louisiana, a new $100+ billion spaceport in South Louisiana near Pecan Island.

Construction starts in 2027, with the first Starship launch from the new site planned for 2029.

Starbase, Louisiana will be built to support thousands of Starship flights a year. This self-sustaining spaceport will have propellant production, power generation, deep-water shipping capabilities, vehicle processing facilities, and an airport.

SpaceX is committed to investing at least $100 billion and creating more than 3,000 new jobs at Starbase, Louisana hiring heavily from nearby communities and utilizing Louisiana workers’ extensive experience of building complex infrastructure in their unique environment.

In Vermilion Parish, the shoreline is eroding between 3.3 and 23 feet per year. SpaceX is partnering with state and federal agencies to expand Louisiana’s Coastal Master Plan and Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act projects, including Gulf shoreline protection breakwaters designed to reduce wave energy and slow loss along the Gulf edge.

SpaceX has announced two mega-projects representing at least $116.8 billion in combined investment, all within less than three weeks:

• Terafab in Texas, the world’s largest chip manufacturing facility.

• Starbase, Louisiana, the world’s largest spaceport.

Together, they are expected to create more than 14,000 direct and indirect jobs. One will produce AI chips for use on Earth and in space. The other will support thousands of Starship launches annually.
