Just like many of the sculptures of the Parthenon are in a museum outside Greece, the sculptures of the Temple of Aphaia are mostly located in the Glyptothek of Munich

@hughpearman The exhibition space is terrible, not the Venturis’ fault but the National Gallery who didn’t believe in ‘blockbuster’ shows. Hence consigned to the dungeons. Properly to celebrate the bicentenary of this greatest art collection the NG should build a new exhibition wing behind.

@hughpearman Improving the entrance facilities - what a great way to commemorate the bicentenary of one of the greatest art collections in the world! At a cost of £50m. It could be called the Sackler Entrance - or today’s equivalent in search of artwash.

@hughpearman This is what happens when people start with the minuscule details of a problem instead of looking at the big picture - namely the need for a dedicated suite of galleries for temporary exhibitions. They actually own an adjacent site.
