For me, I watch what China is doing, with a raft of open source models, and realizing the pace at which it is improving is going to soon give China, and other countries that welcome Chinese AIs in, major productivity and lifestyle benefits.

For my entire career we were way ahead and China could do not much else than steal our intellectual property and play second fiddle.

Now we are faced in a world where we'll be in that seat and it is uncomfortable indeed.

It is time for American companies to start working together to make a "super AI" that will join our sizeable resources to make AIs that continue to lead the world. But we have capitalism and egos in the way of all that.

The old Silicon Valley used to have innovators meet at meetups like Homebrew Computer Society to share engineering and knowledge with each other.

It's time to bring that early cooperation back.
