The video explainer released on March 19, 2026, forecasted the impact of the ongoing Iran–US–Israel conflict on Pakistan, particularly the surge in fuel prices. Now, as of April 4, 2026, EPBD’s projections have proven accurate, with fuel prices soaring to a historic PKR 458.40 per litre.

If the conflict continues, prices of key commodities, especially fuel are expected to rise even further.

On Pakistan's 78th Independence Day, the Economic Policy & Business Development (EPBD) think tank hosted a distinguished gathering at Lake City, Lahore, bringing together a large assembly of Pakistani business leaders from across the country, FPCCI representatives, and chambers of industry, organized by Dr. Gohar Ejaz, Leader of the Business Community.

The Top 20 Public Groups were selected based on comprehensive analysis of market capitalization and equity holdings, utilizing data from the Pakistan Stock Exchange @pakstockexgltd to identify the strongest performing publicly listed entities.

The Top 20 Private Groups were identified through extensive perception-based research conducted across 76 national chambers of commerce and industry, 160 vital trade bodies, export associations, and expert consultations with industry stakeholders throughout Pakistan.

This comprehensive study identifies enterprises demonstrating exceptional governance standards, transformational leadership vision, and significant economic multiplier effects across critical sectors including banking, energy, fertilizers, manufacturing, real estate, and diversified industries.

The research emphasizes that Pakistan's sustainable economic growth requires strategic partnership between government policymakers and private sector leadership. With enabling regulatory frameworks and supportive policies, these 40 institutional champions can double their economic impact over the next decade, generating substantial job creation, enhanced export performance, and increased tax revenues.

All dignitaries welcomed the setting up of EPBD think tank, recognizing its vital role in bridging the disconnect between government and business community through independent, research-based and evidence-driven policy advice.
