Oman is becoming one of the most serious Bitcoin mining jurisdictions in the world, yet almost nobody talks about it.
While Bhutan and El Salvador dominate headlines, Oman has attracted over $1.1B in mining investment and is scaling capacity toward the gigawatt range through licensed private operators. That’s roughly 2x Bhutan’s target capacity.
Most facilities are in Salalah Free Zone, where the monsoon season offers naturally cooler conditions than much of the Gulf. Operators benefit from a 30-year tax exemption, 0% customs duties, and competitive natural gas energy pricing below $0.04/kWh.
The government has formally clarified that crypto activities can operate within regulatory frameworks aligned with Islamic finance principles. Mining is now integrated into Oman’s Vision 2040 diversification strategy.
I find it extremely interesting. Is it me or is this something not so frequently advertised? Personally I totally missed it until now.
