@littleWanic One important aspect that technology offers is efficiency with a lower production cost. However, I truly think that technological advances are only going to harm our economy more. If technology continues to take jobs, who will have money to purchase the products made?
@mattie_dukes17 ...face communication. With communicating over technological devices, we lose a lot of cues we would normally be obtaining face to face. All in all, it can be bother very beneficial but also harmful.
@mattie_dukes17 The article talks about communication with technology and this is important in the workplace as now we can all be connected with technology. However, I think this is also a downfall as now there is no line between work and home. Also, it has almost completely replaced face to...
@OrgCommChat A strength I have is flexibility and open mindedness. When looking at diverse groups of people I think it is important to be open-minded and willing to adapt and learn. It’s valuable for a leader to recognize that there is always something new to learn.
@oster_oster I work for a great employer who is great at #4 & #5 . He always pushes us to be open about our opinions regarding our work and always wants us to do our best. He is one of few employers I’ve had that appreciates blunt honesty and personal success.
@GraceGraubart I look for someone who is hands on and does not think they are too good for any job. Also, someone who fosters good work relationships. From the list I would like to work for #15 as employees say he assists in helping employees reach personal goals.
@OrgCommChat I have always tried to set my personal brand as showing that I have a very determined personality. Also, I am very talkative and outgoing and I want others to see that willingness to speak to anyone.
@dalzell_piper ...on applications. Organizations claim to not discriminate, but then why is race included on college and job applications? What about gender included on these? Personally, I believe if you have a good application it should not matter your race or gender.
@dalzell_piper I like how the article states that Nike seems that it values women, but inside the company it does not. Ultimately everyone at some point experiences forms of discrimination (some more than others). One aspect of discrimination I have always found interesting is race...
@maxine_bennett7 Personally consistency is very important to me! Today I received my Clinique makeup in the mail. I have worn Clinique exclusively for the last 3 years because the brand is consistent with the product, pricing, and annual promotions. Customers constantly know what to expect!
@OrgCommChat I picked medical and health services managers. This occupation is 70.3% females. At first, I thought this was weird, but then I thought about who you typically see in the hospital and it is women. However, I never viewed this job as very gendered and expected it to be about 50/50
@GraceGraubart This March, Rosalind Brewer became the CEO of Walgreens. This is exciting news as she is the only black female serving as CEO of a Fortune 500 company and is the 3rd EVER. She is pushing to break the glass ceiling for all women, especially those of color.

@KatherineBruck9 This article reminds me of the 2021 super bowl! In 2021 we saw the first female referee during the game. Sarah Thomas was able to break the glass ceiling by being the 1st female referee. Also the current VP, Kamala Harris, is another example of breaking the glass ceiling!
@em_coronaa … I think emotional labor should be used sometimes. I do not think employees should be required to put on a front 24/7 as humans are simply not happy 24/7. Ultimately, I think utilizing emotional labor is important, but employees should also have some emotional freedom.
@em_coronaa I really enjoyed reading this article as it showed deeper ideas such as bridging and bracketing. These reinforce the idea of suppressing negative emotions. The article speaks about suppressing extreme anxieties, and even says healthcare workers can develop PTSD...
@xitlaaalic … those standards are what people expect emotionally. An example could be walking into a department store to an employee who doesn't smile or speak to you but is in an obvious bad mood. We expect them to be happy, but there are times that they are probably using surface acting.
@xitlaaalic I think everyone at some point has had to use emotional acting. Personally, I normally do "Deep Acting" as we discussed in class. If I do not switch my emotions I will likely not have a good day at work. Societal pressures are important in understanding emotional labor as...
@DrewHil03848559@OrgCommChat ...telling yourself that you are "catching up on work" instead of working on your day off gave people more motivation. This is something I will have to try!
@DrewHil03848559@OrgCommChat I found this article very interesting. Personally, I experience presence bleeding as I generally end up working Monday-Sunday. While I have never felt that my work was less meaningful, when working on a Sunday I have NO motivation. I like how the article stated that simply..
