Last week, Member States and partners gathered at the 27th Session of the @UNESCO Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme Council and reaffirmed their commitment to clean water, flood prevention, glacier preservation, and water quality.

The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees.
The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance.
Access to all other Claude models is not affected.
We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible.

Denying entry to a Somali soccer official selected as one of the World Cup referees is quite shameful. The whole point of the World Cup is as a spirited athletic competition that brings us together, and allowing him to officiate is obviously the right thing to do.
Quite interesting thread on capabilities of real biological neurons (spoiler: they're way more capable than classical artificial neurons in a perceptron) . Nice work @IdoAizenbud and collaborators!
People replace their phones every ~4 yrs. This means there are hundreds of millions of old phones discarded each year that are still perfectly usable as computing devices. @Google in collabration with @UCSD is exploring how to turn these old phones into cloud-computing “phone clusters”. Putting phones back in service in this way can directly reduce the environmental footprint of computing by avoiding the need for further raw material extraction, and taking advantage of the embodied carbon already incurred from manufacturing these devices, and modern phones actually are already quite powerful computers. Thanks for inviting me, @MBalazinska!
America may seem like a crazy place these days. But if you set foot in a random part of this big country, you'll see that most everyone is nice, helpful, and hospitable.
Sure, this place ain't perfect - no place is - but it's far better than most people will ever realize.
BREAKING: With the strategic support of western allies, Iran has successfully hardened its religious autocracy into a military dictatorship. Sources describe the move as ‘textbook regime change’.
Conducting road safety audits, scheduling maintenance, or planning logistics routes used to require combing through imagery or, worse, driving miles of roads yourself. Not anymore. https://t.co/cEUSDS6X7N
New AI-powered data layers in Google Earth are changing that. Pulling from billions of Google Street View images, these layers now spot infrastructure assets like stop signs, speed limit signs, and more to map infrastructure for you.
By combining these assets into a single project and diving into Street View you can locate and validate assets on Google Earth in seconds.
These layers are now available for Professional & Professional Advanced customers on web and Android, with coverage expanding over the coming weeks.
Anthropic just retook the AI crown from GPT 5.5, and split its model in two: Fable for the public, Mythos for trusted organizations. Apple admitted it lost the foundation model race and handed Siri's brain to Google.
-- Brian Armstrong's NewLimit: $435M raised, $3.1B valuation, reversing cellular aging. Human clinical trials targeted for next year.

-- Apple paying Google ~$1B/year for a custom 1.2 trillion parameter model to rebuild Siri.
-- Fable 5: 80.3% on SWE-Bench Pro. On the harder FrontierCode Diamond set: 29.3% vs Opus 4.8's 13.4%
