Because the alternative could be more government & less freedom & they want to be left alone. They enjoy self sufficiency, independence & the illusion of freedom. Not necessarily because they wish to become rich. And it’s not against their own self interest. Many misunderstand this.

I started sketching how accounting & audit evidence should work in the agentic age — record the facts & evidence once, derive the books, every number able to explain itself.

Turns out a bunch of academic accountants worked this out in 1982. It just never shipped.

The wild part: it's the simpler method. Right now one vendor invoice lives in eight systems — inbox, AP tool, approvals, payment rail, ledger, schedule, recon, audit file. The same fact, re-keyed eight times. REA said: record it once, with its evidence, and derive everything else.

It lost in 1982 because "derive everything else" needed software nobody had — you'd end up keeping books twice just to prove the point. That's now the cheap part.

So my agent & I read the papers & wrote it down as a spec. Nine primitives, evidence first-class, the ledger as one projection.

Exactly. Reason #1 the levers don’t work, supply side issues. Ai & energy also, not rate sensitive since they think they’ll make a bajillion dollars. Also, the labor market is not driving inflation & the unemployment rate doesn’t tell the whole labor story. But the state of most consumers is irrelevant due to the k. Oh and national debt like back at ww2 levels.

@BohunkSupremacy Yeah it no longer makes sense to spend 80-100k on a 4 year degree that can be already obsolete. We need a complete overhaul & continuous education should become the norm. It should also be very low cost.
