The first mass deportation of Poles to Siberia, Feb 1940 - which included my Polish gran, a schoolgirl at the time, and her family.
Her father would suffer a stroke, her brother would be drafted into the Red Army, and my gran joined the Anders Army. They were infinitely lucky.
