I happened to be sitting right next to Kevin when he said "I need to post this one today" while staring at the doc and I was still surprised when I saw it on the timeline
i was diagnosed with thyroid cancer many years ago purely by chance, because i had to get blood work for my US green card application (thank you, USCIS!). i was in my mid-30’s and was reasonably healthy (or so i believed.) this was shocking and totally unpredictable news to me. thanks to the amazing team of clinicians at NYU Langone, i successfully went through a total thyroidectomy followed by radioactive iodine therapy. but, it was truly the most uncertain and confusing period of my life.
this is when i first realized that no one can opt out of healthcare. being sick isn’t what you choose to or choose not to. it is something that unpredictably happens to all of us at some point for one reason or another. this is why it is a healthcare system that we collectively build and use to support each other at the society level. because it must support everyone, the complexity of creating, maintaining and improving this system is a Herculean effort that calls for all the help in the world.
today, i am announcing @OrtetAI together with my dear co-founders, @keunwoochoi, @HenriDwyer, @elmanmansimov, @causalclaudia and Jeff, to lend our support to improving the health of each and every one of us. Ortet’s goal is to create a technological foundation that will enable health systems to deliver predictably better care to each and every patient. this will only be possible by working closely with all stakeholders in the broader ecosystem, which is enabled in part by Ortet’s close partnership with Thoreau.
Ortet is taking the very first step of a long journey ahead, and at the end of this journey, i strongly believe we would be able to say that Ortet had contributed to building better, more predictable healthcare and thus to improving health of each and every one of us.

@bijans@ethanjweiss Not (4), that they got too aggressive with the enrollment criteria and should have designed for even higher Lp(a), especially accounting for increased rates of PCSK9i prescribing that would be producing some incremental benefit from Lp(a) reduction across trial population?
@antonioregalado $1B cash but agree the acquisition was about gene therapy expertise (as Lilly itself said; it was getting the best team in the business). And the program (VERVE-102) will go to Ph2; the commercial viability will certainly be about pricing—which has forever been issue in PCKS9i.
@AbudBakri@cremieuxrecueil@patrickc@DanteLabs they ran this scam on me in 2019. i can’t believe they are still in business. was in QA for 6 months and customer support never responds.
Today we're introducing @usefiretiger. You and your AI agents write code. Firetiger makes sure it works.
Our team and I have plenty of incident war stories building @Cloudflare, @segment, @Twitch. In the agentic coding era, the volume of code changes + quality issues in prod is ever increasing, but observability vendors aren't incentivized to close the gap. They make money when you write more data to them, not when your software actually works.
Firetiger is the agentic operations layer for the agentic coding era. We combine production observability data, codebase understanding, and knowledge of your business to find problems before your customers do and fix them before they notice.
We've raised $7.6 million led by @sequoia with participation from angels who believe in better software, including @eastdakota, @calvinfo, @NicoRosberg, @dok2001, @jeffawilke, and @alanaagoyal.
You can sign up for @usefiretiger today, self serve. We charge for agents that directly make your software better and more reliable, not for observability data ingested, with plans starting at $599/month.
Observability is dead. Long live outcome engineering.
“Most people don’t want be pushed that hard. They want to be pushed to their level of comfort. You need coaches that push you outside your comfort zone because that’s how you grow and that’s how you develop self confidence and self esteem. They push you to deal with failure,” Tom Brady
