Just this last month
-Pharr police shot a teenager having a mental health crisis
-San Benito police killed a man in front of his mother
- Cameron Country tried to hide a video of a Jailer assaulting a detainee
And y'all still saying "this is the Valley, it doesn't happen here"
“don’t go to that part of town you’ll get murdered”
no you won’t. are you a gang member? are you a drug dealer? are you involved in any street activity? are you stupid enough to look like an easily robbable person wearing $6,500 worth of jewelry in a neighborhood where the average yearly income is $17,000? Do you have a sarcastic and rude way of talking to people? no? you’ll be fine lol. why would somebody hurt you?
this is going to be a controversial take but i’m sorry, a behavior plan is put in place for this reason. you do not take away an autistic persons possessions without warning or reading how to do so. If you’re working with Autistic children you HAVE to follow the IEP so this doesn’t happen. if this child was this violent then he simply shouldn’t have been in a public school setting so that’s a failure on the system. many steps were missed before this child acted violently
🇵🇸Today, the people made history! 300,000 marched in Washington DC to demand an end to Biden and Israel’s genocide against Gaza and demand freedom for Palestine!
#March4Palestine
📌 My heart is heavy thinking about Israel/Gaza, Haiti, Acapulco, Texas and the U.S.-Mexico border tonight (among others).
As we begin to see more instability across the globe, one thing is clear to me—not only are governments currently not prepared for this century, but they may end up continuing to play a key role in furthering human suffering for many.
These past few weeks, I’ve felt little hope. But one small ray of light for me was the report that migrants traveling through the continent to reach the U.S. border were volunteering to help rebuild Acapulco.
Of course the response from the federal government in Mexico is where the responsibility lies. But it was a reminder to me of the human spirit, what we’re capable of, and the hope that we will make it through if we can find it in ourselves to work together.
i don’t think enough Americans understand how literal it is when Palestinians describe what is happening to them. settler colonialism is not being used metaphorically. having their homes stolen is not just what it feels like it’s what it is.
