Kate makes an important point with a wonderful example. City and Councillor offer knee jerk negative responses to a reasonable rezoning request from property owner. No one assesses validity of neighbour comments. Stop demonizing the disadvantaged!
As the quality of our cities & towns have worsened, people are curious why we can't build better, more beautiful communities?
Part of the answer is due to our zoning & building codes, construction & educational practices
But there's another, perhaps more important reason
Ford’s PCs issued as many Minister’s Zoning Orders to benefit just the guests at a single Ford family wedding reception as the previous government issued during its entire 15 years in power.
More evidence of sketchy land deals shows just how deep the corruption goes.

It starts with making them legal. Currently they’re illegal in almost every neighbourhood in almost every city in North America, Australia/NZ etc. Corner coffee shops, convenience stores etc. If we’re serious about walkable, “complete,” “15-minute neighbourhoods, this is obvious.

🧵Thank you to colleagues and members of the public for last night’s respectful debate at SPPC resulting in the approval of locations for the first three hubs as part of our Whole of Community System Response to Health & Homelessness. However, I’d like to expand on a few things…
The Ward 4 Councillor in London is endagering our citizens. Tonight I sent this letter on behalf of the @StAidansLondon to @MayorMorgan & his colleagues. We cannot be silent while an elected member of our council endangers the most vulnerable. @CBCLondon@LFPress@JaneatLFPress
@lpsmediaoffice I've engaged with 3 members of London Police in the past week - I needed their help. Amazing professionals! As with this story, we owe so much to our Everyday Heroes working within a troubled system. #Respect#everydayheroes
“In Finland, the # of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.” https://t.co/EH3reri9lz
London, Ont. has an ambitious goal to build a dozen, 24/7 shelter hubs and 600 high-support housing units in the next three years to address homelessness. @namshine talks to Mayor @JoshMorganLDN about his city’s approach, at 8/11pm | Producer: @Mariasarrouh#ldnont#onpoli
‘We can’t duplex and triplex our way out of our housing shortage - though it’s a good step since we do need more diverse types of housing, and rapidly.’ Incremental change is something, but what we really need is new housing at scale. Good take: https://t.co/j7Uw0ATwBH
This is such an inspiration. It shows can happen when an entire community comes together to address homelessness. So proud of #ldnont . @LFPress , please continue coverage of this nationally important story. Can’t wait to see outcomes. https://t.co/TBkhRGrGVh
