Just as aluminum closed-loop system, $PCT is doing the same for #5 plastic (polypropylene). They use a P&G-patented process to turn plastic waste into virgin-like resin using 80% less energy.
Note, the polypropylene market is larger by volume.
Very nice, $PCT Thailand financing should be completed soon. It’s going to be funny when the Thai plant is financed at a sub 10% project finance rate vs the 20ish% WACC the market is currently pricing.
$AMCR $PCT
Amcor will be a good partner now and in the future for Purecycle. It is the biggest plastic converter and has the expertise to get new customer ideas shelf ready in a short order. With a global footprint, they have the reach and the expertise to help customers navigate regulatory requirements.
$PCT $QSR From Restaurant Brands International For Good Report: "In 2025, our brands conducted market tests and advanced transition plans, and we are on track to meet our 10% reduction goal by the end of 2026. Each brand has developed tailored strategies including eliminating plastic packaging, lightweighting, and increasing recycled content. One example of this progress is the Tim Hortons journey to develop a hot drink lid made with 30% recycled polypropylene (rPP), launching nationally across Canada in 2026"

Dow Chemical increases polyethylene resin (plastic) prices twofold in the U.S. and Canada.
Earlier it planned to increase prices by 15 cents a pound, but now changed mind to raise by 30 cents/lbs.
Said may raise more. Cited war as the reason for price increase .
@private_dataguy Dustin said they were routinely processing between 8 and 10K lbs. an hour of feedstock. This amounts to 16.3 M pounds a quarter of uncompounded rPP. Up from 7.5 last quarter. Seems interesting that they are ramping up so much inventory.
NJ certification would push more demand but also would allow more pounds to be sold due to less rPP in the compounded product (10-20% in regulations). Currently P+G (thermoforming) has 52% PCR and the other material is virgin PP or about 2X of the rPP produced. BOPP (Mars candy wrappers, Kellogg’s) has 32% PCR content or a 3X of rPP after compounding. Purefive choice can vary in PCR content. Purefive Ultra is 100%.
Great research. New Jersey's mandate goes from 10% to 20% next year and to 30% in 2030. There is no alternate for any PCR content currently. Companies are getting waivers for now. Other states have certified Purefive. Purefive is plastic to plastic. I can’t see a chemist not diverting material from the landfill to reusable material.
