@GovMurphy I am a 2nd year business teacher in Alternate Route with 30 years marketing/finance experience. PLEASE SIGN THE BILL TO ELIMINATE edTPA to help our great state of NJ attract highly qualified teachers given such a devastatingly low number of new teachers #EliminateEdTPA
@TrueGem86@RutgersAltRoute A1: #AltRtEd#Safeshools I focus on interdisciplinary lessons and mix in differentiated lessons. My classroom rules are called Mr. V's ROI Classroom Rules. R = Respect for one another; O = Open your mind to all opportunities to learn in class; I = Show interest and engagement
@Literaturechick@RutgersAltRoute I will focus on seating arrangements this fall. I am going to quickly assess who should and should not be seated next to each. We have tables with pairs of chairs which allows for two students per table. I had a few instances of disruptions this past year. #AltRtEd#SafeSchools
@RutgersAltRoute I am excited to implement the important strategies, tools, and practices I learned to educate and protect my students from bullying, cyberbullying and harassment. #AltRtEd#SafeSchools

@SrtaGeiser27 Q3: Allie, we have a similar staff group in-person meeting every few weeks at my school where the business, marketing, finance, financial literacy, economics, and history departments to discuss important topics. I too share resources with colleagues on GDrive. #AltRtEd#EdTech
@SrtaGeiser27 Q4: So true Allie. I do feel that using technology can excite students and prepares them for the future. However, the use of technology can distract students and removes them from opportunities for socialization. #AltRtEd#EdTech
@RutgersAltRoute@yanifdez4 I serve as an advocate for victims and a leader for positive change. I teach students how to be cyber safe.
I am current on the newest social media being used or misused. I teach student's to report incidents anonymously. I set firm policies and rules to
create clear boundaries.
@phsjtrs@RutgersAltRoute Q3: A current practice includes collaborating with peers, (business educators) and forming interdisciplinary connections with teachers in other departments to exchange ideas/strategies, best practices, solutions, etc.. I observed 10 teachers this year #AltRtEd#edtech
@phsjtrs@RutgersAltRoute Q4: A key benefit of technology is real time collaboration between students (Google Sheets , Twitter, and Blogs) while challenges are that technology takes away from face-to-face dialogue and having deep critical thinking level conversations in the classroom #AltRtEd#edtech
@Camerondacobb37@RutgersAltRoute I learned from veteran teacher that I can use Google Classroom to administer tests and quizzes which captures students answers. It can also be used for daily Do Nows and Exit Tickets.#AltRtEd#edtech
@ViPa28667281@RutgersAltRoute#AltRted#EdTech I agree. I experimented this year with taking phones, letting students keep their phones, being firm that phones have to stay in their backpacks, and so on. Many different approaches but none seemed to work.
My observers this year gave some great ideas to try now
@kennaykay@RutgersAltRoute Our school started using GoGuardian also which is very helpful when I want students to use their chromebooks to take notes but not be searching information not pertinent to class. #altRtEd#edtech
@yanifdez4@BalazsMs@RutgersAltRoute A1: I plan to modify assessments for my students with disabilities to provide choices and a variety of ways to demonstrate their knowledge. Some do better with oral exams or presenting ideas verbally vs. traditional written tests. their individual learning styles. #AltRtEd#Sped
@TrueGem86@RutgersAltRoute#AltRtEd#Sped In inclusive education environments, teachers modify their approaches so that the maximum number of students are served in gen ed environments.
Integration helps reduce social stigmas and improve academic achievement for many students.
@TrueGem86@RutgersAltRoute A5: Other strategies include varying teaching methods to help students with disabilities gain personal self-sufficiency, success in school, and improved learning outcomes. Inclusive classrooms create higher achievement, better communication/social skills.
ALL STUDENTS learn more!
@msolivia_DR@RutgersAltRoute A5 #AltRtEd#Sped So true. I have found some success recently and achieved some breakthroughs with one of my students with a severe learning disability. I have been consistent him and found the more flexibility, warmth, and understanding I show him the more positively he responds
@RutgersAltRoute A1: A now understand how a growth mindset-set research shows intelligence can be developed and can inspire through. Criticism helps learning and motivation to embrace challenges, persist despite setbacks and constantly work harder for mastery. #TeacherEd#Growthmindset#AltRtEd
