USA. A breakfast counter. The waitress recommended the biscuits and gravy, and when the plate arrived, I thought something had gone wrong in the kitchen.
I say this with shame. The dish looked like a construction site after rain. Pale mounds. Gray ladle-fall. Speckles I could not identify.
In my land, the eye eats first. A meal is arranged like a garden. This meal was arranged like weather.
"Is it… finished?" I asked, carefully.
"Honey, that's what it looks like."
The man beside me was already eating his. He did not look up. "Just try it."
I am a man who has charged hillsides at dawn. I raised the fork. I tried it.
I must now formally apologize to the biscuits, the gravy, the waitress, the kitchen, and the entire breakfast tradition of the American South.
It was magnificent. Warm. Peppered. The biscuit drank the gravy the way a field drinks rain — THAT is why it is shaped like that, you fool — and every mound I had insulted was a soft fold of comfort that my homeland, in eight hundred years, never once thought to invent.
"Well?" the waitress asked.
"I judged it," I confessed. "By its appearance. I am ashamed."
"Everybody does, hon."
Everybody does. A national dish that forgives you for doubting it. It expects the doubt. It waits for you on the other side of it.
Do not judge the gravy by its face. Judge yourself, for hesitating.
I order it every Saturday now. I no longer see the construction site. I see only the garden.
It was a garden the whole time. The eye must be trained.
Give a man free sex, entertainment, and comfort, and he’ll forget his goals.
Give him pain and heartbreak, and he’ll feel like conquering the world.
Dear bro, hard times are a blessing, not a curse.
Billionaire investor Ron Baron explained the silent math destroying your wealth:
Your money loses 4 to 5% of its purchasing power every single year. The economy grinds higher at roughly 2%. That is a relentless 7% headwind against you, annually.
What that really means. Prices double every 10 to 12 years. Your savings are cut in half in real terms within about 15 years. Cash sitting idle is not safe, it is decaying.
The system is structurally engineered to punish savers and force capital into risk just to survive.
Single women sway left with the peer group vibes
Dating a man? ‘I’m not really into politics’
Married? Quietly right-leaning while playing centrist
Then kids hit: Mom’s loading the family into the 6-ton grocery hauler with a ‘Protected by 2A and Prayer’ sticker, suddenly obsessed with the gubernatorial race
Many such cases
“You’re not virtuous. You’re harmless. You’re like a rabbit. Rabbit isn’t virtuous. It can’t do anything except get eaten. It’s not virtuous. If you’re a monster and you don’t act monstrously, then you’re virtuous. But you also have to be a monster. The hero has to be a monster” – Jordan Peterson
I reached this conclusion 20 years ago via philosophy and religion.
The three-dimensional meat sacks we inhabit severely limit our ability to experience the universe.
We assume that “aliens” must also be meat sacks, but our type of embodied consciousness might be rare and low on universal food chain.
For Christians, God tells us this explicitly in Isaiah 55:8-9:
For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways.
As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Most people gloss over this verse, but I call it “the first principle of Christianity.” God isn’t an old bearded man sitting on a cloud. He is infinitely beyond our comprehension—we literally can’t even speculate what that means.
Science increasingly suggests that consciousness is a field (not a local phenomena) and our particular embodied form is a “VR headset”.
To me, this points to an afterlife beyond these meat sacks.
The truth is we don’t know and never will. All we can do is choose our beliefs—that’s what faith is.
Instead of thinking of wealth as what money can buy, think of the freedom it can create.
The ability to make decisions from a place of abundance instead of pressure.
The flexibility to protect your time, energy, and priorities.
The confidence to navigate uncertainty with a plan already in place.
At Populus Wealth, we believe wealth management should support the life you are trying to build, not only the assets you are trying to accumulate.
Real financial freedom is having your assets produce income streams that can support your lifestyle without your time being the bottleneck.
It creates the flexibility to be more intentional with how you live and work.
To say no to opportunities that do not serve you. To enjoy slow mornings and coffee on the porch. To make it to family moments without constantly checking your phone. To prioritize health, leave room for travel, and build a life that feels sustainable long term.

Financial control may not be obvious at first, but we see it every day.
Sometimes it looks like restricted access to accounts, limited visibility into finances, excessive control over spending, withheld financial information, or one partner carrying the full weight of financial decision-making alone.
And sometimes, the issue is not intentional at all, but years of financial misalignment, poor communication, or a lack of shared structure around money.
Over time, both situations can create stress, imbalance, and uncertainty inside a relationship.
That is why objective financial guidance matters.
At Populus Wealth, our couples' harmony assessment is designed to help couples create greater transparency, improve communication around finances, and align long-term financial goals with more clarity and structure.
Because healthy financial planning influences trust, communication, stability, and long-term decision-making.

Yes, the stock market continues to hit new all time highs, and yes, the government continues to print more and more money.
This benefits people who already own assets, and hurts those that are still in the early innings of accumulating wealth.
If you don’t understand inflation and what you can do to protect yourself from losing purchasing power daily , it’s time to have a conversation.
