Years from now, when the Canadian government pretends to hang their heads in shame for complicity in #genocide and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians while labelling anyone holding the State of Israel accountable for it as “antisemitic”, dismiss it for what it is: BS. #cdnpoli
This is your friendly reminder that data centres don’t actually need water. They need a cooling system and are using water because it’s the cheapest way to do it.
Hong Kong lawmaker Dominic Lee brilliantly exposes the hypocrisy and decay of the West:
“What moral authority does the U.S., a country ruled by the Epstein class, have over my country which has lifted 800 million people out of poverty?
What moral authority do NATO countries have who preach human rights while turning a blind eye to the Zionist genocide in Gaza?
We will not accept lectures by governments that use human rights as weapons while their own hands are stained with the blood of Palestinians and Iranians they choose to forget.”
So, Canada today refused to criminalize residential school denialism and also refused to examine its complicity in the genocide in Gaza. Canada is basically just a genocide denial country at this point. So much for peacekeeper myth?
Canada remains silent in the face of Israel's daily bombardment of Lebanon and Gaza, yet it is quick to condemn Iran's retaliatory strikes against the US and its allies. This glaring double standard and the accompanying doublespeak make the GoC's position truly reprehensible. The hypocrisy of this government knows no bounds, as it selectively champions international law and human rights based on political allegiance to a state openly conducting international piracy and blatantly threatening Canada's sovereignty just a day ago.
What this government has done is further damage its international reputation, let alone cause irreparable harm to the international law it supposedly upholds.
The PM's Davos speech is a testament to this hypocrisy 🤡
In the middle of a live streamed genocide the Canadian Prime Minister is making speeches in front of an Israeli flag, telling us that the real victims are those who’s feelings are hurt by criticism of the offending state.
This picture was taken yesterday.
“The war in Gaza” is actually “the Genocide in Gaza”
“The war in Lebanon” is actually “the Genocide in Lebanon”
“Collateral damage and human shields” is actually “murder children and innocent civilians”
The media uses euphemisms to control the narrative. The media is complicit
When people say "I'd do anything for my child," everyone praises them, but when a parent risks crossing a border to save their child from war, poverty, or danger, suddenly they're treated like criminals.
If capitalism is so great, why do corporations need tax breaks, subsidies, exemptions, grants, bailouts, legal protections, and trade barriers to survive? And when ordinary people ask for help, why is it suddenly called socialism?
Cuba is out of fuel, strangled by the US fuel chokehold.
People are dying, systems are breaking down.
This is collective punishment against a people who have done absolutely nothing except live their lives under hard conditions imposed by the US blockade for decades.
It’s a blatant violation of international law, a crime in progress.
Canadians are connected to Cuba: we’ve been welcomed, had great holidays, heard incredible music, done business and made friends.
We need to help Cuba right now, even if it bothers Trump: Canada should send immediate humanitarian fuel aid, in as much quantity as we can quickly assemble.
And we should be speaking out loudly on the international stage: US military action against Cuba is absolutely unacceptable!
It’s time for the countries of the world to rally and stop this impunity before it takes another sovereign country into chaos.
We have to come to Cuba's aid. What's happening is too cruel, too horrible.
Normal person: Genocide is bad.
Israel supporter: Just say you hate Jews.
Normal person: I oppose Zionism.
Israel supporter: Jews. You mean Jews. Say Jews.
Normal person: The Israel lobby is causing problems.
Israel supporter: Jews Jews Jews Jews Jewy Jew Jews.
Normal person: But I don't mean Jews. I'm expressing specific grievances against a specific state, its backers, and the political ideology it is premised upon. I judge people based on their individual actions, not on their religion.
Israel supporter: JEWWWWWWS.
Normal person: You realize you're doing the exact same thing neo-Nazis do, right? You're conflating all Jews with everything bad about Israel and the forces which give rise to its abuses.
Israel supporter: It is antisemitic to conflate all Jews with the actions of Israel.
Normal person: Then why do you keep conflating all Jews with the actions of Israel?
Israel supporter: Because it is antisemitic not to conflate all Jews with the actions of Israel.
@MarkJCarney If "the protection of civilians and respect for human dignity must be upheld everywhere, at all times," then why does Canada prop up Israel's apartheid regime with billions of dollars in trade annually?
No immigrant stole your job. You were laid off by a capitalist who wanted cheap labor and took advantage of that immigrant to increase his profits, and nothing makes him happier than watching you blame the worker instead of him.
The lack of news on Gaza isn’t because the genocide is over.
It’s because Israel slaughtered the journalists and Western media pretends there’s a ceasefire.
James Baldwin said it in 1965 and it has not aged a single day:
The reason Americans cannot face their history is that the history indicts their identity.
And you cannot ask someone to accept the evidence that destroys who they think they are.
White Americans, he said, need the Black American to remain inferior, because their own superiority is the only thing that makes sense of a country built on those terms.
The same structure applies outward.
Americans need the rest of the world to remain in need of American guidance, American intervention, American rescue.
Because without that story, what exactly was all the violence for?
The empire doesn't just extract resources.
It extracts meaning.
And the people who built their inner lives on that meaning will fight as hard to keep it as any general ever fought to keep territory.
Harder, maybe.
You can negotiate territory.
You cannot negotiate with someone's need to believe they are one of the good ones.
