“Monsters.” “Dark money.” A hidden hand “turning us against one another.”
Swap “AIPAC” for “Jews” and it’s the oldest antisemitic conspiracy theory in the books. That’s not criticizing a lobby. That’s laundering antisemitism from your podium as Mayor of a city with more than a million Jews. This bullshit is dangerous.
If you want to talk about real monsters let’s start with the North Koreans, Russians, Sudanese, the Iranian regime, and their proxies — Hamas, Hezbollah, PIJ — and other terrorist groups who’ve killed scores of Americans.
🔴 Trump Says Iran Shot Down U.S. Helicopter & U.S. Will Respond
A U.S. Army AH-64 Apache helicopter went down near the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Oman Monday, with both crew members rescued within two hours and reported in stable condition by US authorities.
President Trump said on Truth Social that Iran shot down the helicopter and that the U.S. “must, of necessity, respond.”
Iran’s IRGC Navy claimed it shot down the aircraft after it ignored warnings, targeting it with fire from a speedboat. The Pentagon has not confirmed or denied the Iranian account. CENTCOM had said only that the cause is “under investigation.”
was a tough pill to swallow that my crippling anxiety was much more narcissistic than I had ever realized. obsessing over what others think of you and how you are perceived is not self awareness; it is narcissism.
There is no room for hate in America.
We are praying for the victims and families impacted by the horrific shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego. No one should ever fear for their safety while worshipping or gathering in their community.
We must stand united against Islamophobia. America is strongest when we protect every person's freedom to live and worship in peace.
Marco Rubio:
I think China's preference is probably to have Taiwan willingly voluntarily join them.
In a perfect world, what they would want is some vote or a referendum in Taiwan that agrees to fold in. I think that's what they would prefer.
Ultimately it's featured prominently in President Xi's mandate in the time he's been in office. He's made clear that what they call reunification, what they call it, is something that has to happen at some point.
We think it would be a terrible mistake to force that through force or anything of that nature.
BREAKING: Trump's "Project Freedom" collapsed after Saudi Arabia and Kuwait suspended US military access to their bases, airspace, and overflight rights, per NBC News and Ryan Grim.
The Kingdom blocked the US from flying aircraft out of Prince Sultan Airbase or through Saudi airspace, completely grounding the operation and removing the air defense umbrella protecting ships in transit.
Saudi leadership was "furious" after Trump announced Project Freedom on Truth Social without notifying them. Qatar and Oman were also blindsided, with Trump only contacting them after the operation began. A direct call between Trump and Crown Prince MBS failed to resolve the situation.
BREAKING: The House just voted to remove the pesticide provisions from the farm bill that would have protected Bayer from lawsuits over cancer-causing glysophate in Roundup.
The amendment passed 280-142.
China’s new official obsession: Getting people to read more books.
In February, China passed a new regulation to build more public reading facilities and spaces.
In April, China had its first-ever national reading week.
State media encourages people to put down their phones and pick up a book.
President Xi wants China to become a “cultural powerhouse” by 2035, and says the revival of reading is one of its pillars.
Xi quotes Mao saying, “One can go a day without eating, a day without sleeping, but not a day without reading.”
In 1949, less than 20% of China's population was literate. Today it's approaching 99%.
When one of the most tech-focused countries in the world says that a population of book readers is vital to their future, we should all take note.
I am at the Washington Correspondents dinner. First I’d like to thank law enforcement for their swift response in preventing a tragedy.
Second, almost everything you’re reading about this incident on X is false. There were multiple shooters and possible casualties.
One of the reasons I am a liberal and not a leftist is that leftist morality is about power, not rights. Good actions reduce power imbalances, bad actions exacerbate them. Murder, theft, and discrimination can all be justified if they harm a “powerful” person or group. Liberals condemn these actions because they violate individual rights and dignity. Liberalism seeks equal rights, leftism seeks equal power.
@Israel Why don't you post a picture of Marek Edelman, the last surviving leader of the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising? Probably because he was a lifelong anti-Zionist, and hated you fascist fucks.
@socialtism Also evinces the fundamental flaw in capitalism which is its cancerous addiction to capital accumulation. They believed AI would eliminate the need for paid labor; who then will purchase the commodities “you” produce?
Tens of thousands of bees have suddenly swarmed across parts of Israel, prompting authorities to warn residents and shop owners to keep doors and windows closed.
demonstrative of the actual role of police in a capitalist system: protection of private property and social control. you can add revenue generation in the form of tickets for mostly puerile 'offenses'. 187
"We intentionally ran him over...don't shoot at cops."
A California sheriff says an armed suspect killed a deputy and barricaded himself when an eviction notice was served — but is now dead and "got what he deserved."
