Introducing x402-IPFS 📁
Upload any file to IPFS via x402, powered by @openx402
With x402-IPFS, developers can now:
• Store data onchain without an api key or login
• Connect ERC-8004 identity & reputation data to IPFS content hashes
• Persist project metadata, proofs, proposals, or agent memory/state
• Build launchpads (like @c402markets by @pingobserver) that publish & verify data without any centralized backend
• 100% gasless on @base & @x402scan
The EF is donating $500K to the legal defense of Roman Storm, and we will match up to a further $750K in donations from the community.
Privacy is normal, and writing code is not a crime.
🚨 There are some crazy threat actors lurking among us
This guy “Nick” has a year+ persona, is hanging out in the infamous ethsec tg, and has multiple long-running dms open with multiple (legit) security researchers.
If you opened his “PDF” pls turn off your computer NOW.
hey @DavidSacks@dannyryan is a former Ethereum core developer who led Ethereum through its most complex transition in its history, moving it from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake
he is cofounder of a new organization called @Etherealize_io, designed to help introduce the world to building on Ethereum as the #2 public blockchain by market cap and a leader in decentralized programmable blockchains
Danny would make an excellent representative for Ethereum and can help you not only brainstorm, but think through in deep technical detail how to architect systems which bring the US government and private businesses onchain
please consider adding him to the invite list for this and future Digital Asset Summits
Flashblocks make Base faster
This 10x change makes Base the fastest EVM chain to date, bringing effective block times from 2 seconds down to 200 milliseconds —and they're live on testnet right now + coming to mainnet in Q2
EA has uploaded fully recovered source code for Command & Conquer (aka, Tiberian Dawn). C&C Red Alert, C&C Renegade, and C&C Generals + Zero Hour to github. W move!

🖼️ 24 HOURS OF ART 📊 February 13, 2025
🎭 Good Masquerade
'X. Masquerade' by @SamSpratt is collected by @Kanbas_ for $3,000,000 USD, marking the largest digital art primary 1/1 sale in 3 years.
It is Spratt's 10th 1-of-1 artwork, begins the 6th Chapter of Luci, and is soon to become the centerpiece of a participatory experience built with @niftygateway.
Spratt goes beyond price and discusses a deeper level of patronage from Kanbas:
"An explicit path to support Masquerade's now in-the-works exhibitions (Yes, IRL Masquerade is coming). Financing for a documentary about my work and the people in my life. Collection of 13 Masks to gift and onboard people outside of our digital art movement they want to share this story with.
But really: a commitment to the journey and providing freedom to aid its pathfinding.”
Via Kanbas:
"To us, patronage is about true friendship—embracing the artist, their world, and their craft. Sam tells a story of all of us, great and small—bigger than the tool it’s made with, the space it occupies, or the time it is told."
Via @kukulabanze:
"Our friend Kanbas is one of the most important collectors of contemporary art globally, a wonderful patron and collaborator with artists."

Ethereum is the last bastion of cypherpunk / 3,3 values because a lot of people & institutions in Ethereum got rich at a time when it was easier to do that while being idealistic. That is why I say 'ETH goes hard'--it will be the only ecosystem that truly cares about decentralization & censorship resistance at a time when that matters relatively little (or is even a negative) in commercial terms, because Ethereum's key people & orgs have that luxury.
You can't really expect the same thing from fledgling ecosystems and founders who don't have massive war chests built up from previous times, they just have to do anything they can to win--which, based on current market values (not fearing the govt, not caring much about decentralization, just wanting numberup tech), does not involve much idealism. If you need to 'sell something' to survive and the market is not buying cypherpunk, selling cypherpunk per se is somewhat a recipe for disaster. At most, you have to sell something else and sneak the cypherpunk in despite what your customers want.

The prosecution’s case threatens to hold software developers criminally liable for the bad acts of third parties, which would have a chilling effect in crypto and beyond
We must stand with @rstormsf
My name is Roman Storm, and I am one of the founders of Tornado Cash, a non-custodial privacy protocol.
I am being prosecuted for writing open-source code that enables private crypto transactions in a completely non-custodial manner. This prosecution represents a terrifying criminalization of privacy.
The charges against me threaten to criminalize software development itself. If successful, the implications could extend far beyond the crypto industry, impacting every software developer. I face up to 45 years in prison on charges including operating an unlicensed money-transmitting business, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and sanctions evasion.
This case has already had a chilling effect on developers working on software tools. Recently, a developer filed a lawsuit against the DOJ, seeking relief because my case has made them fearful of releasing new software.

Additionally, there is significant confusion around the 1960 charge (operating an unlicensed money-transmitting business), as different government agencies have conflicting interpretations of the law.

“This prosecution threatens to criminalize software development itself,” said Keri Axel of Waymaker LLP, my legal counsel.
American entrepreneur and politician @VivekGRamaswamy commented, “You can’t go after the developers of code. What you actually need to do is go after individual bad actors who are breaking the laws that already exist.”

Multiple amicus briefs have been filed in support of my defense by the DeFi Education Fund (@fund_defi), Coin Center (@coincenter), and Blockchain Association (@BlockchainAssn):

The 5th Circuit Court has already ruled that Tornado Cash sanctions were unlawful:

However, the DOJ has dismissed this ruling as irrelevant:

My trial is set for April 14, 2025.
Ross was just granted a FULL AND UNCONDITIONAL PARDON by @realDonaldTrump. Words cannot express how grateful we are.
President Trump is a man of his word and he just saved Ross's life. ROSS IS A FREE MAN!!!!!
If you bought $100 of Bitcoin when Coinbase was founded in June 2012, it would now be worth about $1,500,000.
If you kept the $100 USD you'd only be able to purchase about $73 worth of goods today.
Bitcoin is the best performing asset of the last 12 years, and it's still early days.
Every government, especially those looking to create a hedge against inflation, should create a Bitcoin strategic reserve.
Happy Bitcoin $100k day.
