@deedydas I mean this is just evidence that acceptance rates are far from a perfect metric. Iโd like to see the percent of students who go to northeastern over northwestern if accepted at both
@NealGardner_ Isn't it true by definition that if you peaked early, then you played badly later? I would find this take a lot more credible if you had predicted France to lose because you thought they'd played too well before this
@jt_kerwin@MattveeEL1 Isn't this kind of an arbitrary number? If we changed the rules to e.g. have a longer clock but stop it less, there would be more game time in this sense but the same amount of action over the same time period
@FranceLumieres Thatโs not the claim. Heโs correcting two misconceptions, that Americans donโt have good community and leisure time, and that the American system only works for the top of the income distribution
@NukeBushwick@mean_field_zane Yeah I see. According to this the UK does drink more than the US but the difference isnโt nearly as big as I wouldโve thought https://t.co/R1mHHTF4KQ
@Talophex@NathanpmYoung Doesn't having a single drop of alcohol most likely increase the risk of negative health outcomes? The actual probabilities of these outcomes at different amounts of alcohol is what matters
I think what most Europeans fail to understand is that the US is... really big. It's essentially 50 countries lumped into one, each with its own culture.
Football/soccer culture isn't the same in NYC as it is in LA, which isn't the same as Ohio or Texas, etc.
@GaryMarcus I don't understand where you got the impression that they weren't planning to release a Mythos-class model once it was safe. They explicitly said this when Mythos was announced
@GaryMarcus Also since that time OpenAIโs private valuation has gone up an unbelievable amount, do you think its valuation will fall below that number? Eg you were calling the end of the AI bubble throughout 2024 when it was something like $100B
@heeney_luke Of course it could be totally different if you have a lot of student loans to pay or other circumstances, but for me personally it would be hard to be jealous of anyone
@heeney_luke I feel like being a grad student at a good US program isn't necessarily a struggle though? Like according to according to this my stipend (which I think is pretty standard) puts me in the 97th percentile of income globally https://t.co/JO5asruCfN
