@YankeeLineups@SamQuinnCBS He was being fouled by McDaniels when he felt Reid also starting to grab him, and he reacted by swinging his arms to create space. He deserved the flagrant. The moral condemnation is crazy.
@YankeeLineups@SamQuinnCBS I just cannot fathom where you get a moral (not flagrant foul rule) equivalency if you watch those two plays back to back at game speed.
@YankeeLineups@SamQuinnCBS Yes! You hold the ball in both hands and when the left arm is held you swing the ball to the right.
To be clear, I had no problem with the punishment in this case. The moralizing is another story.
@YankeeLineups@SamQuinnCBS Sizing him up is just a crazy way to describe that when you watch it in real time. Jokic literally stalked Morris. The equivalence couldn't be more false.
@YankeeLineups@SamQuinnCBS If Wemby wasn't so much taller, and that hits him in the chest, nobody has any reason to make a big deal about it. As I said, Shaq used to have high elbows all the time. Obviously, Wemby IS that tall and he needs to adjust, but it's wild to jump so quickly to "dirty player"
@YankeeLineups@SamQuinnCBS That's truly a wild take. Wemby was being held at the literal moment he threw the elbow. Jokic chased Morris down the court and sized him up prior to impact. They aren't even in the same stratosphere.
@YankeeLineups@SamQuinnCBS I think that's a massive reach born out of fandom-induced anxiety, but you are entitled to it if that's the route you want to go.
@YankeeLineups@SamQuinnCBS When Wenby does anything approaching the Jokic cheap shot on Markieff Morris, then let's circle back to this. Otherwise you are just hyperventilating over playoff basketball.
@YankeeLineups@SamQuinnCBS Come on, man. Jokic gets tons of this. Giannis did too when he actually made deep playoff runs. KAT flails wildly. Mobley and Allen I will give you, but only because they are soft and shy from contact. This is just weak as hell.
@YankeeLineups@SamQuinnCBS You don't see guards retaliating because it would require them to go push a guy for bumping him on a drive. That's a very different level of aggression from what it takes to throw an elbow when a guy is currently holding onto you.
@YankeeLineups@SamQuinnCBS That's because perimeter bumping and interior holding/grabbing are totally different. Every one of these pearl clutching Wemby moments is him trying to get a guy off him who is holding him.
@YankeeLineups@SamQuinnCBS That's not really relevant. Both players are/were fouled a lot because the defending teams can't deal with them any other way.
