@thetimes What exactly is on the other side of this cliff edge? Earning £90,000 per year, by the sounds of it. That's a rockface-plummet I would dearly love.
@LloydsBank Can I now withdraw money from a cashier in a branch? I wasn't able to yesterday due to whatever UK-wide probs you were having. Don't have time for a wasted journey to a branch...
@AukeHoekstra "It's warming but it's not man-made" seems to be the main response on the right. Which begs the question "why aren't you terrified then?" - dunno why the right are happier with the idea of an apocalyptic climate change we couldn't do anything about.
@SunkenHum Almost entirely Bandcamp. I actively browse Bandcamp tags (eg 'death metal', 'traditional folk', 'grindcore') & I go down Bandcamp rabbit-holes (eg listeners who liked Nyege Nyege Tapes also liked DJ Nigga Fox). How do ppl get music reccs on X? new to me!
@pilitaclark It is indeed a good question. But we should also be asking Labour how on earth their 1.5m homes target is compatible with their 2050 net zero targets (which are legally binding). You can't build 1.5m new homes without blowing the entire net zero allocation for the whole of the UK
@MarcioChong@JustStop_Oil So you think throwing soup at a glass-protected painting is morally worse than a sex offence? I'd say that makes you rather evil, if you're going to use such black-and-white moral terms.
@AngelaRayner@mhclg@JimfromOldham@mtpennycook Labour's 1.5m homes plan terrifies me from a carbon POV: it'd wreck our legally-binding 2050 net zero targets. (So it might actually be illegal!) Please introduce embodied carbon caps, start talking about low-carbon materials, a circular economy & use of currently empty buildings
@BBCPM 1.5m new homes will destroy all hopes for net-zero by 2050: housing alone would devour the entire carbon budget for the UK. Labour: start talking to industry about low-carbon construction materials, and all the empty buildings and second homes in this country.
@squeezyjohn Whereas this time they're promising to "work with Le Pen on small boats" and are demonising trans people. Still, I'll be holding my nose and voting Labour as the lesser evil. Would be fantastic if Tories cld be pushed into 3rd place...
@ThorpeWatch Judging by the polls, you're very very wrong: relatively speaking, almost no people are thinking that at all. They're on course for a landslide victory pal.
@JunkScience It's very easy to explain: it's global average temperatures that are going up. If we were already at the point where EVERY SINGLE MONTH was unprecedentedly hotter than ever before EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD then we'd all be long dead.
@Jenny_1884 Doesn't seem to have occurred to you that people who struggle to give their kids breakfast are struggling to give them all their other meals too. You need to re-think what "generally nice person" means.
@EssexPR If your parents had a spare £24K per year then by many people's standards they were rich. Private education widens the divide, as your statement concedes (you imply it kept you from prison) If it's such a panacea, then everyone should have it, not just those that can afford it.
