@Beazy_Rampezy@Dr_Keefer This is a very fair statement and I agree.
It just seems your methods are not working and creating more divide between you two possibly?
@Beazy_Rampezy@Dr_Keefer I say that not to be confrontational at all. I look up to both you and Chris but your guys’ arguments/interactions seem to go in circles and just get worse.
@SecretaryWright@GovNuclear@ENERGY Could restart killing operations near Nucla, CO as well.
Watched a documentary about the place and without the uranium mill it’s a pretty impoverished area. Unfortunately “environmental groups” from Telluride, CO were successful in killing efforts to restart it a decade ago…
@Atomicrod I imagine if mining sites were cleaned up a bit, or in the process of it, this would go a long way w/ getting general support from Native American and environmental groups.
It might not be enough to acknowledge the mining issues of the past, cleaning them up could help
@OperadorNuclear@MeredithAngwin Interesting.
Spain seems to be following along w/ Germanys “Energiewende” concept and ready to also experience the same issues that Germany has had?
Germany seems to have fallen from climate change hero status based on the issues with its approach. Weird Spain wants to repeat
@Beazy_Rampezy@Dr_Keefer Fair.
I assume there is ample amount of common ground between you two though?
Again, it’s just unfortunate to see two nuclear advocates and big names within the space “at each others’ throats” when there’s probably a lot of similar goals/ideas between you.
@MarcusPun@TheNuclearCo In summary, we need all energy sources and although nuclear is slow and coatly up front, its long term ability to legitimately replace fossil fuels is its true power. Wind/solar/batteries short term and nuclear long term (+ new geothermal!) should be a goal we can both agree on?
@MarcusPun@TheNuclearCo For comparison:
France: 88% CO2 reduction with 20% elec price decrease for ~107-228 B euro
France shows the long term results of nuclear. Do we actually want to solve the CO2 problem? France shows us that it is possible and has been for 40+ years
@MarcusPun@TheNuclearCo Germany: 30% CO2 reduction with 15% elec price increase for ~500-700 B euro
For 500 B euro and 15% elec price increase and lower industrial capability, not too great a deal. Germany would have had a much better result if they kept their nuclear on.
@MarcusPun@TheNuclearCo Higher elec prices and less elec supply for use, I think the opposite is usually the goal. The world needs more energy, not less. Restricting energy only hurt residents, similar to how Germany’s industrial capacity has degraded due, in part, to higher energy costs
@TerraPower Love to see it! Really looking forward to the project at Kemmerer and then hopefully the next ones in my home state at Hunter/Huntington coal plants! 🙌
