@LibreOffice I guess the only option to quicken the death of OpenOffice is to publish several tech blog posts a month stating exactly what you wrote above, but in form of lists of MS Word alternatives, because only this blog post loop seems to keep OpenOffice alive.

This free script allows cropping of a rotated Region-Of-Interest (ROI) and down-scaling of results to a user-defined stack size. And it comes with a GUI!

@geology_johnson This can probably only be seen in the context of probabilities. The probability of finding a taxon in the fossil record can be described as a function of the population size, the preservation potential of the habitat they live in, and, of course, the sampling effort.

@GIMP_Official @zemarmot GIMP has been my main bitmap editor for years now, and it will likely continue to be. But, please consider bumping automatic image alignment and fusion (simple focus/exposure stacking and panorama creation) onto your roadmap. Photographers will thank you.

@daniThiv Yes. Although I have never published there, I know a lot of colleagues who did. From what I could gather from them and from my experience as a reviewer, at least some of the journals seem to be quite well managed. Again, the pricing is ridiculous for many of them.
