Happy Veterans Day, especially to our vets who now serve as educators in our public schools! We thank you for your service to our country and our communities! #VeteransDay2023#nced 🍎
Be informed with your VOTE!! Thank you @ForwardCarolina for calling out these deceit full practices!!!
As a voting citizen of Mecklenburg County I will be supporting the
true democratic candidates
Part of being a voter is being an INFORMED voter.
Alert: the @meckgop is trying to "pull a Cotham" again.
The Mecklenburg Republicans are pushing a slate of candidates for this year's CMS (school board) election - called the "CMS Unity ticket" - but hiding their involvement and endorsement.
This is becoming a thing down there.
@Tim_Switzer244 @langstonwertzjr Wanna take a guess where that money stays??
It does not follow the child it stays at that charter school.
Some reasons I have seen kids be removed from charters
They are EC
They need a bus
Parent can't be as involved as they want
English is not their first language
@Tim_Switzer244 @langstonwertzjr Also, if you want the money to follow the kid, great then let it actually follow the child.
After day 20 if the child gets kick out of the charter school (which they are allowed to do at any point for any reason) they must go back to their public school.
@Tim_Switzer244 @langstonwertzjr Actually, it is shown that Charter schools do NOT do as well as public.
By not following regulations, we mean not support any EC kids, not required to teach state standards, not required to have certified teacher, not providing low income support such as bussing and food.
@DaoshanS@JustinParmenter Reminder:They had it from 2018-2020 as well. Masters Pay was stripped in 2012 (republican gov). Since 2011, the NCGA has been republican controlled, during which time the majority of these policies were enacted.
Supermajorities twice now. Both times, we have not had a budget 🤔

The @CMSboard intergovernmental committee asked @CMAEducators and @ncae for their feedback on PEPSC/@edstateboard_nc recommendations on teacher licensure and pay reform. Legislation might be filed soon, and we need to decide how/whether to weigh in.
We would like to thank Reps. Bradford, Cotham, Cunningham, and White for filing House Bill 382 Registered Nurses in Schools.
This bill is a key legislative item for this biennium as we work to ensure there’s a school nurse in every school, every day.
