India’s political leaders must not underestimate pollution’s long-term damage. Its impacts will last for 200-300 yrs. Tariffs may change with leadership every 4 years, but the cost of reversing pollution damage could have financial implications as high as 20–30% of India’s GDP.
I don’t understand India’s obsession with burning everything—garbage, dried leaves, crop residue, even recyclables. This is a major contributor to our worsening AQI, after construction dust.
