Made this @observablehq notebook exploring Fibonacci lattices — a simple and elegant technique for evenly distributing points on a plane, circle and sphere. https://t.co/3mVUoek9Sj
Presenting our latest business matrix: a rigorous mapping of male actors by Looks (Plain–Hot) and Acting Chops (Wooden–Masterful). Mark Wahlberg serves as the benchmark. All placements are the result of extensive deliberation and at least one heated argument about Steve Buscemi.
@sama In response, we introduce a business matrix mapping professions by Confidentiality (Open–Secretive) and Predictability (Unpredictable–Predictable), with Accountant as the benchmark. This framework provides a structured view of occupational privilege and information flow.
@mbostock Would this Mark also function for diff’ing 2 separate time series, or is it only for “self difference”? The use case that comes to mind is the family of technical indicators such as “golden cross,” where, over time, one moving average is either below or above another signal.
This may be useful to plotter people participating in this year’s #ptpx postcard exchange: I made an @observablehq notebook to generate plotter-friendly SVG postcards, including addresses and other text. Easy to customize and plug in your own data. https://t.co/89dcbqwpnb
@observablehq@d3js_org@mbostock@infobeautiful Hard to overstate how well deserved that is. Aside from the profound impact D3 had on so many careers, the D3 examples, source code - and now Observable - have been the most valuable resource out there for learning graphics programming, SVG, Canvas, etc (and it's free🤯).
Made this @observablehq notebook to explore Taylor Series and the fascinating way a bunch of seemingly arbitrary numbers add up to a single, meaningful sum.

@VISxAI@enjalot@observablehq Heads up: the workshop page you linked to in the Tweet has the incorrect registration link within it. Where it says "To attend, register at IEEE VIS.", the link points to last year's event.
@koolmelvin@OptimumHelp@optimum@AlticeUSA My experience too. Outages last minutes. Very disruptive to VPN/confs. Coworkers don't seem to have such issues. I'm wondering whether outages r neighborhood-wide, or a hardware issue w/ my modem. May I ask: where in NY r u? I'm Bklyn, Ditmas Park. I follow u now, so can DM me🙏
@COVID19Tracking Here's what this ratio looked like yesterday for the states with the most cases -- keeping in mind the caveats mentioned in the original tweet. Pretty noisy data, understandably. Can view this for more states and with newer data (once API is updated) here: https://t.co/0xnMyCSwmf
@GoodBrain@observablehq@COVID19Tracking Good luck! Hard to know how to interpret the test results, due to (eg) rising test counts, and because people who test positive tend to get re-tested later.
Made an interactive thing on @observablehq using @COVID19Tracking 's state-by-state coronavirus testing data. The goal is to facilitate side-by-side comparison of states, based on their testing and demographic data (and maybe more in the future). https://t.co/0xnMyCAUXF
