⚡On #WorldPressFreedomDay, the situation in #Amhara should raise alarm. Since April 2023 the #Oromo Prosperity Party regime has launched an all-out assault on free press and shut off network/communications services before unleashing a genocidal siege on millions. #WarOnAmhara
I'm going to Hungary next week to speak on African migration. Europeans must understand that if Africans had peace, good governments, and opportunities - the last thing they'd want is to migrate. As a former refugee I know how miserable it is to uproot and leave home and family.
On #WorldPressFreedomDay, it is important to shine a light on the invaluable work by journalists and the media. We are happy to participate in the joint statement below:

Several diplomatic missions in Ethiopia released a statement regarding the severe suppression of press freedom in the country.
As a reminder, hundreds of thousands of people are detained just for their ethnic identity in Ethiopia.
Thousands of journalists and human rights freedom fighters are detained either for their identity or because they are trying to expose the targeting of Amharas and #AmharaGenocide that is ongoing in the country.
It is also important to note, journalists who discuss, write or expose any form of wrongdoing by the government are also illegally detained by the regime in Ethiopia.
End #AmharaGenocide
On this day, May 3rd, #WorldPressFreedomDay, various Diplomatic Missions in #Ethiopia remind the importance of #PressFreedom & the need to protect #Journalists & the Media who work tirelessly to report the facts & call for the release of unjustly detained Journalists in #Ethiopia
