Distributed the 'Sahakar Gaurav Awards' organised by Maharashtra Rajya Sahakari Sangh and Sahakari Maharashtra on the occasion of the International Day of Cooperatives. On this occasion, presented awards to those who have demonstrated commendable excellence and dedication in the cooperative sector.

The cooperative sector has a rich legacy dating back to the British era, when it first emerged to protect farmers from the exploitation of moneylenders. Today, Maharashtra has the largest penetration of the cooperative sector, with over 2 lakh cooperative institutions actively driving growth. In this journey, the Maharashtra Rajya Sahakari Sangh has played an invaluable role in strengthening the grassroots foundation. The cooperative housing movement in Maharashtra is flourishing rapidly, directly fulfilling the housing dreams of millions, while banking cooperatives are ensuring that even the last person in society has access to credit.

Recognising its transformative power, Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji established a dedicated Ministry of Cooperation on 6 July 2021, appointing Hon Union Home Minister Amitbhai Shah as the nation’s first Cooperation Minister. Through the creation of a comprehensive National Cooperation Policy and robust structural reforms, the sector is being actively uplifted, proving that cooperatives can stand the test of time in the 21st century. Because the cooperative world operates closest to the common man, it must continue to thrive. The Maharashtra government stands firmly behind this sector to ensure its sustained growth and prosperity.

Elevated Corridor to Redefine Solapur’s Connectivity and Growth

Chaired a meeting regarding two proposed flyovers in Solapur City by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in Mumbai, today.

Our Government's sustained focus on accelerating key infrastructure projects will bring a transformative change to Solapur's transportation network. The ambitious ₹1020.50 crore four-lane elevated corridor project will significantly ease traffic congestion in Solapur, while giving a strong boost to the city’s economic and industrial growth. Directed all concerned agencies to ensure robust coordination among the district administration, Solapur Municipal Corporation and central departments to swiftly resolve all bottlenecks and accelerate project execution.

The 9.66 km elevated corridor project from Old Pune Naka to Boramani Naka on National Highway 65 will create an efficient traffic ring around Solapur city upon completion. With 6 entry and exit points, the project will ensure seamless connectivity between National Highways 65, 52, 166 and 150. This will enhance regional connectivity, ease traffic congestion, lead to substantial fuel savings, reduced pollution and further strengthen Solapur’s position as a strategic transportation hub.
