Almost half of Mozambique is covered in forest but in the last two decades, the country has lost four million hectares of its tree cover - roughly the size of Switzerland.
One area particularly affected is Chimanimani, a region in Western Mozambique 👇
Globally, if women farmers had full economic power – the ability to own land, own livestock, and control their harvests - economies would grow: 58 million people would see their incomes rise, and another 235 million would be more able to withstand the next food crisis (according to FAO). In Ethiopia, I am encouraged by the leadership of State Minister Dr. Sofiya Kassa, who is championing a comprehensive gender equality strategy for the agriculture sector.
With Dr. Sofiya’s leadership, the @MoA_Ethiopia is working with @EthiopianATA and @CAREECSARegion to build a more inclusive economy that includes the contributions of women in agriculture, who make up 67% of the women’s workforce in Ethiopia. I look forward to what this unique partnership will accomplish for women farmers and their families in the coming years.

By growing nutritious food in a way that respects nature, small-scale farmers secure the wellbeing of their communities and our planet 👐 🌍
They should be at the forefront of #FoodSystems transformation.

Politicians are too "motivated by short-term thinking" says Sunak - whilst announcing a co-ordinated, calculated, catastrophic roll-back of climate policies which would help make this planet liveable for future generations. The hypocrisy is staggering.
This intervention from Ford surely leaves Rishi Sunak looking weak & stupid: ‘Our business needs three things from the UK govt: ambition, commitment & consistency. A relaxation of 2030 would undermine all three.’
