Thousands of people participated in a rally organised by Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) on June 19, with the main gathering held at Kangpokpi district headquarters. The rally concluded with the submission of a memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through the Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi.
The procession began at Nute Kailhang and moved along National Highway-2 before reaching the Deputy Commissioner's Office. The event was organised by the Committee on Tribal Unity, Sadar Hills, in support of KIM's call for a "Rally for Justice."
In the memorandum, KIM expressed concern over the security situation in parts of Manipur and sought intervention from the Central Government regarding incidents affecting Kuki-Zo communities. The organisation alleged that several Kuki-Zo civilians had lost their lives in recent months and that a number of villages had been damaged in separate incidents.
The memorandum also raised concerns over relations between Kuki-Zo and Naga communities and called for measures to restore confidence and ensure the safety of civilians in affected areas.

The Kuki Alliance for Nampi Awakening Movement (KANAM) has submitted an urgent memorandum to Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, seeking the relocation of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal to Kangpokpi District Headquarters.
The memorandum highlights the continued difficulties faced by the Kuki-Zo community in accessing healthcare since the outbreak of ethnic violence in Manipur. It states that a large section of the population has effectively lost access to RIMS due to security concerns, travel restrictions, and repeated incidents of discrimination against Kuki-Zo patients seeking treatment in Imphal.
KANAM further argues that healthcare is a constitutional right and must remain accessible to all citizens without discrimination based on ethnicity, region, or community identity. The representation calls upon the Government of India to ensure equal access to advanced medical care and take immediate steps to address the concerns of affected communities.

Dear Friends,
A firing incident happened today between AR and Kuki Village Volunteers at Molvailup, near the Myanmar border in Kamjong District.
Molvailup is a remote village close to Kultuk Village, which was attacked and burnt by NSCN-IM & NSCN-EF cadres recently. Reports also stated that SNA cadres were involved in the attack and the brutal killing of two innocent villagers in Kultuk Village. After this incident, Kuki Village Volunteers were deployed to protect their village.
After the Kultuk incident, many questions have been left unanswered:
1. Were VVEZ cadres deployed in Kultuk or Molvailup before that incident?
2. What forced them to come to such a village?
3. Has the local police registered any FIR, and is legal action being taken against TangkhulNSCN-IM and NSCN-EF?
4. Where was the post-mortem done?
5. Did the local civil administration or political head announce any compensation to the families of the deceased?
6. Did any local MLA, DC, CSO, or even government official visit Kultuk?
Assam Rifles, which has been trying to maintain balance and ensure the sanctity of the IMB, has also increased its patrols in border areas. When two armed groups move in the area, such incidents will occur. Sometimes it ends with loss of life, which is not acceptable to anyone. Or did this incident take place because it is easy to target Kuki Volunteers rather than armed NVGs or cadres of NSCN-EF, as the entire system works against minorities? From LPG supply to ration distribution, medical facilities, police protection, and simple access to markets for basic needs, it is extremely difficult for Kukis. No one questions it when a Kuki is killed, whether a volunteer or a pastor.
No one should pick up arms like this. But now Assam Rifles must dominate all border areas, including Chhatrik Khunao, Chhatrik Khullen, Humine Thana, Z Choro & Kamjong Town, where NSCN-IM & NSCN-EF cadres are living in close coordination with local Tangkhuls. These cadres use border villages as bases, roam around with sophisticated weapons, and openly challenge both Kukis and AR.
The letter initiated by the GB of Chhatrik to stop AR from coming to their villages, NSCN-IM making bunkers, imparting training to NVGs, calling SNA from Homalin, and feeding in the Chhatrik area must also be dealt with by AR. Why take action only against one community that is already suppressed by Tangkhuls through various means like economic blockades? Is Chhatrik a declared liberated area?
The photos posted by NSCN-EF cadres at BP 96 on 12 Jun clearly show that local youth have been recruited and used to operate in the jungle.
What will happen when AR fights these NSCN-IM, NSCN-EF, or SNA cadres in border areas? Will Tangkhuls show the maturity that the local villagers of Molvailup showed today? No vehicles burnt, no COB stormed, no road block. They accepted this incident with grace, but will the Tangkhul community also behave the same way?
The answer lies in the unbiased behavior of AR in the Kamjong-Chassad area. Only if they are unbiased will they take similar action against NSCN-IM, NSCN-EF, or SNA as well.
Kuki VVs are there to protect their land and people, whereas NSCN-IM/NSCN-EF want a separate flag. The recent statements given by their hierarchy clearly show that they see Indian Security Forces as enemies. Slogans like "ARMY & AR GO BACK", "Fight for Nagalim", "Impose NSCN President's Rule" have been their favorite slogans. They see Indian Security Forces as aggressors. Whereas Kukis don’t do all this. They work for India and respect Indian Security Forces.
The statement given by NSCN-IM commanders to increase domination along the Indo-Myanmar Border clarifies that NSCN-IM cadres will move into remote border locations, like they came to BP 96 with AK-47s. Since "unbiased AR troops" are also patrolling in these areas, a bigger crisis will unfold very soon.

The #Kuki CSO Working Committee, #Ukhrul, announced a peaceful sit-in protest starting June 20, 2026, condemning administrative apathy, selective policing, and misleading media reports regarding local violence and supply confiscations.

Civilian Lenminsang was killed on 16 June.
The killing is alleged to be a fake encounter.
His blood-stained clothes are crucial evidence.
We believe 21 Para personnel were responsible for the killing.

OFFICE OF THE
KUKI CSO WORKING COMMITTEE, UKHRUL
Office: Zalenbung P.O./P.S. Litan, Ukhrul District, Manipur – 795145
Ref. No. WC/PR62/06/26 Date: 19/06/2026
Press Communique
Hundreds of people today joined the State-Wide Rally for Justice organized by the Kuki Inpi Ukhrul (KIU) under the aegis of the WCKCSOs-Ukhrul, demanding justice for the 14 innocent Kuki-Zo lives lost and the 11 Kuki-Zo villages reduced to ashes, allegedly at the hands of NSCN (IM) and ZUF (K).
The rally marched from Mahadev to Shangkai, where KIU Vice President Mr. Johny Khongsai and KSO Vice President Ms. Mercy Khongsai condemned the continued violence against the Kuki-Zo people and the administration's glaring failure to uphold equal protection and the rule of law.
While essential commodities worth nearly ₹2 lakh, transported by a neutral trader for Kuki-Zo civilians, were confiscated on 15 June 2026 without any meaningful police intervention, supplies moving in the opposite direction continue to enjoy police escort. Such selective efficiency speaks louder than official assurances.
Equally disturbing is the deafening silence of the Deputy Commissioner's office. Although a memorandum (No. WC/MRD04/06/26) was submitted on 16th June 2026 seeking urgent intervention, the deadline has expired without even the courtesy of a response. For an administration entrusted with public welfare, silence appears to have become policy.
In light of this persistent administrative apathy, the WCKCSOs-Ukhrul announces a peaceful Sit-In Protest commencing 20 June 2026 at Shangkai, which shall continue until concrete measures are taken to restore the unhindered movement of essential commodities and address the legitimate grievances of the Kuki-Zo people.
The Committee also strongly condemns the false and misleading media reports published on 19 June 2026 alleging abduction and extortion at Mongkot Chepu. Media houses are advised to verify facts with the jurisdictional police station before publishing sensational claims. According to information available to the Committee, no such incident occurred. The reckless vilification of the Kuki-Zo community through unverified reporting must cease immediately, failing which appropriate legal action will be initiated.
Justice cannot be selective. Governance cannot be symbolic. The Kuki-Zo people deserve action—not assurances, and certainly not silence.

*"Deny Them Treatment”: ANSAM’s Attempt to Finish What Bullets Couldn’t
The reported demands to deny treatment to3 injured Kuki Civilians by ANSAM is an attempt to murder again, an attempt to finish of what the NSCN -IM started through medical obstruction as Guns&Bombs failed
Manipur: Why are Tangkhul separatists, who chant “We aren’t Indians” and “Go back central forces,” expecting Indian security forces to side with NSCN-IM?
Security forces successfully rescued Ngamsom Baite after his alleged abduction in #Moreh, reuniting him safely with his family.
A swift operation that brought relief to the community.
Hoping those responsible are brought to justice.
