Look, stripped of all the economic and political doublespeak, what’s happening in Michigan comes down to a very basic mistake…. confusing good intentions with real-world results. The DSA folks love to talk about class struggle and taking back wealth openly quoting Marx, as if money is just sitting in a big bank vault waiting to be passed out. But wealth doesn’t just exist, it has to be produced. When you treat the businesses and workers who actually build the economy like fat piggy banks to be raided, you shouldn't be surprised when they stop building or paying taxes.
Of course people respond to incentives which garner votes. You can pass all the laws you want, but you can’t force business people to stay where they’re being penalized. If Michigan elects leaders who raise taxes, slap on heavy regulations, and push anti-business rhetoric, capital and jobs will simply leave for places like Texas or Florida. Businesses aren't bound by loyalty to a state flag, they go where they can actually operate. The politicians will move on to their next talking point, but the average family looking for a decent job, lower costs and lower taxes is the one that gets hit with the bill.
We’ve seen this exact movie before many times, and it always ends the same way. Michigan’s real growth was built on innovation, manufacturing, and people taking risks to make things, not on government officials telling everyone how to run their lives. Swapping out a system that actually produces results for an ideology that has failed everywhere it’s been tried isn't progress. It’s just setting the house on fire and pretending you’re keeping everyone warm.
Current "common good conservative" inflation messaging: $20 burritos are a human right but also every serious methodology for making them cheaper (i.e. kill the tariffs, break the unions, and deregulate the food supply chain) isn't America First, so we need to complain a lot about how America is cooked and then surrender to Iran
So you need a valid ID to shop at Mandami’s government grocery stores to make sure the system isnt taken advantage of
But the same people who love this idea will also scream racism if you say you need a valid ID to vote so the system doesnt get taken advantage of.
Hypocrites man…Either you should be for no ID for both or ID for both. But if you are split than you are prob a fraud
Fauci is so disingenuous. He did not have the power to close schools, but he advocated for lengthy school closures and criticized Florida for requiring schools be open in 2020.
Like everything else, Fauci was wrong on schools.
The NYC grocery store thing is just crazy, it really is a brush with communism. If you sell 30% below market rates by subsidizing with tax revenues - you will make it impossible for existing stores to compete. Grocery stores operate at razor thin margins. The logic is to drive them out - it’s like a predatory pricing scheme to gain a monopoly. The end goal has to be to put the mayor of NYC in charge of the food supply. That cannot end well.
