April 2020, some friends & I did a Zoom inviting the most famous names in our contact list to see who would show up.

I texted Grant, but wasn't sure he'd be up for it. He had just been let go from SI, and was dealing with a lot. But, of course, he made time to hang with us.

Grant always had my back. Before I was anyone or did anything legit in the soccer space, he supported me. Mentored me. And then he became a dear friend. It is impossible to imagine him just ... not being with us anymore. I hope he knew how much he meant to my life.

I am at a loss for words…. Grant Wahl was more than just *THE* soccer guy….. he was extremely kind and welcoming to everyone in the soccer world and most importantly- he was brave and when people didn’t have a voice he raised his for them.
