@arm1st1ce AI only knows how to generate images that look cool. Doesn’t know how to generate images with any real substance/truth. Really looking forward to the day when I can ask it to generate accurate renderings from a description.
@HabitualLinest@BlakeRinkin@nraleighsr@Catholicizm1 I think, you think that Catholics don’t believe we are saved by faith; that we are saved by works. Catholics absolutely believe we are saved by grace through faith, not by works. That’s not the same as “faith alone”.
@Lance46915@brad_vermurlen If your conclusion is idolatry, then you’ve missed the point. Go back and start over. Catholics don’t worship nor idolize Mary.
@realJennaEllis @finn_lieutenant @EagleEdMartin St. Michael the Archangel never died. He’s an angel. Regardless, where in the Bible are we are commanded “to not commune with the dead”. Reality: it doesn’t. Closest thing you will find is about conjuring up dead spirits, which is nothing like asking a Saint to pray for you.
@webdevcody Funny because many people will respond with “only over-hyped, each has its use-case”, but I think that’s your point. In the moment, and even now, you could say _insert thing_ has its use case, but at the end of the day, adopting it hasn’t actually increased velocity.
@solnic29a I prefer the “Vanilla Rails” style of just using OOP and calling methods on objects in a way that reads like English, since Ruby is so good at doing that. Your code sample requires a little more careful reading because the flow of reading it isn’t as smooth.
@jorgemanru I’ve been reading your posts in the “Code I Like” series, and really like your approach. One thing I noticed was that I didn’t see any transactions or error handling. How do you guys typically handle this?
@goddek I agree that all of the points you mentioned have contributed to negative health effects, but wouldn’t say they’re related to obesity. Weight gain is about calories. Always has been. Sat. fat is still not healthy and “carbs” are not the problem, but high calorie processed foods.
@adrienpoly We’ve done something similar (set a “data-{identifier}-connected” attribute and use that as part of the capybara selector. It’s worked pretty well so far. Curious to see what your improved version will be.
@MorriceGavin I totally agree. I used to use service objects for everything, but eventually came to realize all of the points you mentioned. I think the biggest problem is thinking "business logic" is always put in a service in app/services. Better to name POROs well in app/models.
@SteveSkojec 1) There are people who experience more or less of God’s hiddenness. Some experience locutions. Doesn’t mean they don’t have free will. Hiddenness is not necessary. 2) God’s mandates are very public. In scripture and the church. I don’t agree with your characterization of hell.
