@miss_kielkowska@chatbiology @STEMyBanda @KJF239@edwards_dr2 I vote full marks! ๐ arrows correct way, correct order. Itโs clear what they are. I think an examiner would give it to be honest!
@teachwellall That I was โtoo enthusiasticโ and needed to be more monotonous (illustrated with an example of how I should talk to my class). I left that school at the earliest possibility. Saw Tom Sherrington talk recently and he praised enthusiasmโฆ Iโm glad I didnโt change!
@Broadscience@chatbiology In Y12 ours have 11 x 50mins per fortnight (5 with one teacher and 6 with another) and then in Y13 itโs 12 per fortnight (6 each teacher). So 9 - 10 hours per fortnight. Still could do with more!
My tuppence: try to avoid unnecessarily long expectation and rules lessons on the first day back. Kids are usually full of beans and excited to learn at the start of autumn term. Take advantage of that enthusiasm! Teach them something.
@GAMcCormack Interesting. I was offered 5 different contracts, said I wanted the one that was going to pay me the most and they quoted me a figure which turned out to be wrong. They quoted me over ยฃ700 + bonuses which would have equated to over ยฃ1000โฆ. Iโve received a little over ยฃ400 ๐

So some point soon I may look someone in the eyes & say that they, against their will, will carry to term, undergo delivery & then have their child die
@BeaulieuBio @chatbiology @Forum4bio @CLEAPSS@PracticeScience@RoyalSocBio@SAPS_News Thank you! Germinating beans is in our GCSE so wonโt repeat, but will look at algal balls as I may have heard about this before! We do Edexcel IGCSE in Y10-11, but Y9 is independent, so want focus on practical skills but without repeating experiments ๐
Help! ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ Looking for inspiration: really interesting experiments for bioenergetics (respiration and photosynthesis) that are NOT on GCSE curriculum, pitched for Y9 level? Thanks! @chatbiology @Forum4bio @CLEAPSS@PracticeScience@RoyalSocBio
Lower 6th Biologists are learning how to use the Chi-Squared test to analyse experimental data. Is there a significant difference between the number of different chocolates in a tub of Celebrations?

@benburrows@chatbiology @Forum4bio Unfortunately Iโm not in charge of Y7-8 ๐ but my Head of Sci is wonderful and just overhauled the Y7-8 curriculum and Iโm aiming to provide continuity from there, building in GCSE concepts as we go! ๐
@chatbiology @Forum4bio redesigning Y9 bio curriculum with complete freedom (independent school) - want it to be spiralised and bridge to KS4 but also skills-based. Any great practical suggestions not necessarily used at GCSE?! Starting with cells, but any suggestions welcome!๐ค๐ผ
Dear @educationgovuk,
Itโs now only a week before the start of the new school year and we still have no final decisions on the exams for 2022.
This is poor and a complete disregard for the teaching profession!
And you wonder why we have a recruitment issue. ๐๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ
@chatbiology @Forum4bio Thanks for retweeting! I want there to be lots of opportunity for practical development, but not repeating GCSE core practicals, so any other practical investigation ideas that are a little different or not commonly used! โบ๏ธ
@Mr_H1978 Personal card/note (+ bottle of something ๐คช) - at a previous school the head writes a weekly staff newsletter (not to kids) and actually was nice to have recognition in thereโฆ though occasionally felt like a popularity contest if you did something great but not mentionedโฆ
