Based in Vancouver, @themetalsco is looking to be the first to commercially mine the deep sea in a move it says will power an EV revolution.
Today, scientists aboard the company's ships leaked videos of deep sea sediment overflowing into the sea.
‼️ I'm starting a lab at the University of South Florida's College of Marine Science @USFCMS in St. Pete next Summer! We will study microbial interactions in a changing ocean with multi 'omics and microscopy. Opportunities for MS and PhD students, DM! 🦠🧪🔬🌊❤️ #sciencedreams
Three years may have passed, but the momentum Ruth brought to coral intervention research and her inspirational words remain with us as we continue our work to preserve coral reefs.

Check out this video, captured by #OIST Touber Unit, of a coral spawning event in #Okinawa. Alongside @MitaraiUnit, @Ravasi_lab, and Laudet Unit, the researchers will use footage like this to shed light on the connectivity of #coral populations and the dispersal of coral gametes.
Oh man. I dropped the last plate of sequences libraries off at the sequencing center and cleaned out my desk @OISTedu today. It’s been a wild ride with many ups and downs. I’ve had many opportunities & I’ve met some of the best scientists and people. It’s hard to leave! またね 👋
Deep-sea life truly is #WeirdandWonderful!

Im excited to see this paper with @PlanetAzor and @mitarais out: https://t.co/FoSZTqO0IX. It embodies the Marine Biophysics @MitaraiUnit name w/ ocean current modeling, a slew of environmental variables & #protist metabarcoding in the Kuroshio current & near Hydrothermal vents 🌋

@j_wilson_white@BustonLab I cannot tell how much is due to wind drag on the surface buoy and how much is from wind-induced current caught by the underwater drogue. You are probably right. It could be mainly the wind. The drifter is designed to minimize wind drifts, but probably not in the storm...
