Ten years ago today, I made a spur-of-the-moment day trip down to Ballyhack Golf Club in Roanoke, VA and ended up lucking into one of the most visually stunning days of golf I’ve ever had here at this 2009 Lester George design.
If you’ve never been to the Blue Ridge Mountains at the peak of autumn in early November, I can’t recommend it strongly enough.
@iamSauceGardner Downswing matters a heck of a lot more than backswing. @iamSauceGardner - Your position is pretty darn good for a beginner. Don’t play golf swing. Play golf.
@ChrisBottaNHL@91Butch Believe it or not - That is the year and team that got my hooked on the Islanders! Went to my first game with my Dad opening day 1999….good memories even if the record didn’t show it!
I like trains on golf courses. Weird, right? 🤷♂️
I’m heading to Scotland in a month where trains are prevalent - Carnoustie, Troon, Prestwick and other greats have trains.
It got me thinking - what are the best non-U.K. courses that have a train cutting through or right next to the course?
Here are four of my favorites:
1. The BNSF line at Chambers Bay
2. The Grange line at Royal Adelaide.
3. The Oyster Bay branch of the LIRR at Nassau CC.
4. The newly restored ACWR line at Pinehurst.
@LouStagner What are the dimensions of that room? I’m building a 14 wide by 19 deep…with 10-11 ft ceiling. I would love to understand optimal design ideas given size of that space. Would appreciate anything you have on reviews and learning from building your place.
@bamabearcat@LinksGems@backninepress Really enjoyed the book. As an editorial matter, the reference to Brookville’s third is not correct. The picture displays the current 8th green.
@BryanTweed16 This is a course that you play for the first time and hate it. Play it a second time and you begin to understand. Play it a third time and you are fully in love. Always UNREAL level conditioning. Lots of interesting and fun shots. Angles and options. Great food and pro shop!
@TheRealCharnick@BeisbolCardBlog@gemrate@PSAcard@CGCCards@TAGgrading Is this typical for PSA and the other grading companies? Is grading largely done through just “human experts” and manual review? What technology is being used? I suppose this is the play TAG is trying to make….
