@JonTonge As we all remember, the last time a Labour landslide happened, England immediately won Le Tournoi.
The time before that, they won the World Cup.
So, clearly, the second half should be the final verdict Starmer's election performance.
How many times?
Jeremy Corbyn piled up votes in places where Labour was already popular.
Keir Starmer made Labour popular in more places.
Only one of those things is worth doing.
And a total vote count has no value apart from statistical curiosity.
🚨 NEW: Keir Starmer received fewer votes than Jeremy Corbyn did in both 2017 and 2019
2017 - 12,887,918 votes (Corbyn)
2019 - 10,269,051 votes (Corbyn)
2024 - 9,686,329 votes (Starmer)

Fascinating analysis from @pressgazette: "Only the Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph & Daily Express have been overwhelmingly positive for the Conservatives in their choice and portrayal of front-page stories."

Labour's Tulip Siddiq compares fiscal rules and the economy to murder in quite a colourful interview with @NickFerrariLBC
"It is a commitment depending on the fact it abides by our fiscal rules... everything has to depend on external circumstances... its like saying to your partner I will marry you but if I suddenly find out you murdered a two year old last year, you might not want to... I think that's what we are saying. If there's a global financial crisis we need to review our commitments that that time." @LBC
